MidSouth Bank wins social media competition

The Independent Community Bankers of America released its Top 50 Community Bank Leaders in Social Media, a list that includes Lafayette-based MidSouth Bank, along with its Top 20 Community Banker Influencers on Twitter.
These 2013 rankings, which are the first of their kind, highlight the community bank social media trailblazers among the financial industry.
“Congratulations to all the community banks and community bankers featured on ICBA’s Top 50 Community Bank Leaders in Social Media and ICBA’s Top 20 Community Banker Influencers on Twitter,” Chris Lorence, the association’s executive vice president/ chief marketing officer, said.
In announcing the winners, Lorence noted that consumers now expect fresh content, insight and consistent interaction with brands they are connected to online, saying community banks are no exception. “ICBA is proud to highlight those community banks and bankers who are blazing a critical trail forward by making social media an integral part of their brand and communications strategy,” he said.
MidSouth Bank Social Media Manager Tori Flynn said, “Like most banks we’re pretty new to this social media phenomenon that is changing the pace and face or our industry, but our staff has really embraced it and knows it’s working to better inform our customers and the community about our involvement in the issues and organizations that really matter to them.”
“This award is further evidence that we are strengthening ties with both our customers and community every day, 24 hours a day,” Flynn said.
Nearly 7,000 community banks throughout the nation were eligible to be part of ICBA’s list. Community banks were chosen based on their engagement with fans and followers, the content distributed on their social media platforms, the number of fans and/or followers they have, and the frequency of posting new content. Several of the community banks featured on ICBA’s Top 50 Community Bank Leaders in Social Media were profiled in September’s issue of ICBA Independent Banker.
As part of its ongoing strategy to actively engage new fans and followers, each business day through Oct. 26 MidSouth Bank is posting a secret Phrase of the Day on Facebook and Twitter.
Participants go to the bank and state the phrase. Then they get to choose a MidSouth Bank logo item of their choice, she said, noting that the selection at each location may be different.
