Megan Landry nets 2nd-straight SLC Pitcher of the Week award

Staff Report

For the second time in as many weeks, Nicholls State University sophomore Megan Landry has been named Southland Conference Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
Going 3-1 last week and tossing a no-hitter, Landry, a Central Catholic alum, earned back-to-back weekly honors to start the season. The Pierre Part native got things going for the league-leading Colonels when she pitched her second career no-no and fanned six in their 13-0 run-rule win against Jackson State last Wednesday.
Landry’s two other wins for the week came against Mississippi Valley State where she gave up two hits in four innings and then tossed a one-hit, 10-strikeout performance against Southern Miss Sunday.
Landry finished the week with a 0.95 ERA and a weekly opponent batting average of .137.
The Colonels will return to action Wednesday with a doubleheader against Alcorn State. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
