Ragin’ Cajuns learn pairings for MGM Grand Main Event

The Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns men’s basketball team will take part in the MGM Grand Main Event just prior to Thanksgiving in the upcoming season.
The squad will face Oral Roberts and either Milwaukee or a team to be determined in a pair of neutral-site games as part of its non-conference schedule.
The Cajuns will face Oral Roberts Nov. 24 at 3:30 p.m. and then battle either the winner or loser of Milwaukee and a team to be determined Nov. 26 at either 1 p.m. or 3:30 p.m.
Hosted in the 16,000-seat MGM Grand Garden Arena, the MGM Grand Main Event is a new tournament featuring two four-team brackets.
The Ragin’ Cajuns will be in the “Middleweight Bracket” along with Oral Roberts, Milwaukee and a team still to be announced.
The pairings for both brackets were announced Tuesday morning on ESPN.com, and the action will tip off in Las Vegas Nov. 24.
The Cajuns also will play a pair of road games prior to, and associated with the MGM Grand Main Event, traveling to Tulsa Nov. 17 and to Auburn Nov. 21. Both the Tigers and Golden Hurricane will participate in the “Heavyweight Bracket” when they arrive in Las Vegas, along with Oklahoma State and Oregon State.
This is the first of two in-season events to be played at the MGM Grand Garden Arena this season, with the second annual MGM Grand Garden Showcase scheduled for Dec. 20 with Oklahoma vs. Washington and UNLV vs. Utah scheduled as the two match-ups in the one-day event.
