5 arrested after Morgan City bar fight

Five suspects were booked into Morgan City jail Sunday night after a fight broke out at a lounge, Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.
—Jose Ramos, 18, of Patton Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:15 p.m. Sunday on the charge of disturbing the peace fighting.
—Carlos Garilaby, 25, of Catherine Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:15 p.m. Sunday on the charge of disturbing the peace fighting.
—Reynol Lopez, 29, of Fourth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:15 p.m. Sunday on the charge of disturbing the peace by fighting.
—Juan Garcia, 26, of Louisa Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:15 p.m. Sunday on the charges of aggravated assault and disturbing the peace.
—Salome Garcia, 21, of Louisa Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:15 p.m. Sunday on the charges of disturbing the peace fighting and aggravated assault.
Officers responded to a Morgan City lounge after a complaint about a large fight. Officers arrived and found several people outside the lounge, and two people were holding pool sticks, Blair said. After officers detained the suspects they learned that a fight started between two groups at the lounge, Blair said.
Officers learned that after one of the groups entered the lounge, they began to argue with the other group. Officers learned that a fight then started between the groups during which time two men grabbed pool sticks, Blair said. Officers arrested all five subjects involved in the fight. They were all transported to the Morgan City Police Department Jail for booking and incarceration.
Blair reported the following arrests:
—Yosheka Hayes, 28, of Wren Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:19 p.m. Sunday on the charge of 18 counts of unauthorized use of an access card as theft, and a City Court warrant for failure to appear on the charge of simple assault.
Officers responded to a business on La. 70 to investigate a complaint of a theft. During the investigation, officers learned that one of the employees, identified as Hayes, had used an EBT card from a customer in the business, Blair said.
After reviewing the video from the store and charges to the card, Hayes was found to have used the card 18 times during the previous few days, totaling about $450, police said. The officers also learned that Hayes was also wanted for City Court of Morgan City. Hayes, who was working at the time, was jailed. The investigation in the alleged theft is still ongoing.
—Carlos Figueroa-Garcia, 48, of Terrebonne Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:05 a.m. Friday on City Court warrants charging him with contempt of court and failure to pay fine and restitution. Officers made contact with Figueroa-Garcia at the Police Department, and he was jailed.
—Brandon McClendon, 28, of Mike Drive in Patterson, was arrested at 8:10 p.m. Friday on a City Court warrant for failure to appear on the charge of simple criminal damage to property and on a warrant for probation violation. Officers located McClendon at Teche Regional Medical Center. He was jailed on the warrants.
—Samuel Rhyne, 59, of Second Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:23 p.m. Friday on a warrant charging him with three counts of issuing worthless checks.
An officer patrolling the area of Brashear Avenue and Second Street conducted a traffic stop. The driver, Rhyne, was charged on the warrants, booked and later released after posting bail.
—Ricardo Hernandez, 49, of Belanger Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:39 p.m. Saturday on the charges of driving under suspension and improper lighting, on a 16th Judicial District Court warrant for animal leash law violation, a warrant for driving under suspension and a warrant for probation violation.
A patrolling officer conducted a traffic stop in the area of Railroad Avenue near Oak Street for improper lighting. The driver, Hernandez, was found to have a suspended driver’s license and was wanted on several warrants. He was jailed.
—Tierra Wilson, 29, of Ciro Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:11 p.m. Saturday on the charge of entering contraband into a penal institution.
A corrections officer conducting cell searches located a container with several pills under the mattress of Wilson’s bunk, Blair said. The pills were determined to have not been given out by the medical staff of the jail, Blair said. Wilson was booked and remains incarcerated.
—Karen Verret, 49, of Oil Tank Alley in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:40 p.m. Sunday on the charge of domestic abuse battery.
Officers responded to a domestic disturbance in the area of Oil Tank Alley. Officers came into contact with Verret at the residence. During the investigation, witnesses advised that Verret had struck a man at the home, Blair said. Verret was jailed.
—Lionell Johnson, 29, of Orange Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 4:38 p.m. Sunday on a warrant for failure to appear for trial on the charge of resisting an officer.
—Fredrick Johnson, 31, of Wren Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 4:38 p.m. Sunday on the charges of speeding and no insurance and on a 16th Judicial District Court warrant for domestic abuse battery.
A patrolling officer observed a vehicle speeding in the area of Brashear Avenue. The officer conducted a traffic stop. The driver, Fredrick Johnson, was found to be wanted by the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s office for domestic abuse battery. The officer spoke with the passenger, Lionell Johnson, who had an outstanding City Court warrant for his arrest. Both were jailed.
—Keenze Howard, 50, of Front Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:03 p.m. Sunday on the charge of improper lighting, and a warrant for failure to appear for a probation fee.
A patrolling officer conducted a traffic stop in the area of Brashear Avenue near Federal Avenue. The driver, Howard, was found to have outstanding warrants. Howard was jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 98 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Curtis A. Richard, 38, of the 200 block of Glenwood Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:43 p.m. Friday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of destroying legal crab traps or removing contents and on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of operating a vehicle with a suspended license and operating a vehicle with an unlit license plate. A deputy responding to a request to stand by made contact with Richard at a business on La. 182 in Bayou Vista and located the active warrants for his arrest. No bail is set.
—Dakota Sauce, 17, of the 100 block of Taryn Lane in Ricohoc, was arrested at 11:59 a.m. Saturday for criminal trespass, remaining where forbidden and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
—A juvenile female, 16, of Patterson, was arrested at 12:15 p.m. Saturday on the charges of criminal damage to property and ungovernable juvenile.
A deputy responded to a complaint of a disturbance at a residence in the Patterson area. The deputy learned that Sauce was inside a residence with the juvenile. Sauce had previously been told not to enter the home. A deputy located Sauce at the Calumet Boat Launch. Also during the investigation, the deputy learned that a 16-year-old girl threw a woman’s cell phone to the ground, damaging it. The juvenile was released to a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings. Sauce was transported to the parish jail for booking.
—Christopher L. Lacaze, 36, of the 1500 block of North Third Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:37 a.m. Sunday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of driving while intoxicated, a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of criminal neglect of family, and three warrants for failure to appear on the charge of issuing worthless checks.
A deputy made contact with Lacaze near the intersection of Field and Middle roads and learned of the active warrants for his arrest. Lacaze was jailed with no bail set.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrests:
—Tyrone F. Thomas, 51, of the 600 block of Sixth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 4:16 a.m. Saturday on the charges of possession of prescription bottle, possession of prescription medications without a prescription and no insurance. No bail is set yet.
—Carlos Hudson, 37, of the 900 block of Washington Street in Patterson, was arrested at 4:17 a.m. Sunday on the charge of disturbing the peace. Hudson was released on $327 cash bail.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—James Aucoin Jr., 32, of River Road in Berwick, was arrested at 12:50 a.m. today on the charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana fourth offense, reckless operation and no driver’s license. No bail is set.
Franklin Police Chief Sabria McGuire reported the following arrest relating to east St. Mary Parish:
—Michael Hill, 31, of La. 182 in Morgan City, was arrested at 4:15 a.m. Sunday on Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office warrants for failure to appear on the charge of improper lane usage and no seat belt. Hill was jailed with no bail set yet.
