A Patterson man was arrested Friday on several drug and firearm charges after narcotics detectives searched a residence in Patterson, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Treylon Jenkins, 20, of the 1700 block of Guyther Street in Patterson, was arrested at 1:59 p.m. Friday for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, on a warrant for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance.
Narcotics detectives went to the Guyther Street address to locate Jenkins who was wanted on the active warrant on drug charges. When detectives knocked on the door, they observed Jenkins run into another portion of the residence, Hebert said. Detectives entered the residence and observed Jenkins attempt to hide a container inside a bathroom. The container was recovered, Hebert said.
Detectives found high grade marijuana inside along with a digital scale and a handgun in the bathroom, Hebert said. Jenkins was jailed with no bail set.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 120 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—James Jones, 28, of the 1400 block of First Street in Patterson, was arrested at 6:12 a.m. Sunday for resisting an officer with force, domestic abuse battery, simple criminal damage to property, unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling and on a warrant for probation violation.
—Monica Hebert, 25, of the 100 block of 3 B’s Lane in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 6:12 a.m. Sunday for disturbing the peace, aggravated battery, resisting an officer with force and domestic abuse battery.
A deputy responded to a complaint of a disturbance at a motel on U.S. 90 in Bayou Vista. The deputy learned that Jones and Hebert were involved in a physical altercation with each other. During the fight, Hebert struck Jones with a phone, the sheriff said.
Following the altercation, Jones kicked a door of one of the rooms of the motel and broke a window, the sheriff said. While being detained, Jones attempted to pull away from the deputy. During Hebert’s arrest, she attempted to pull away from the deputy, the sheriff said. Both were jailed with no bail set.
—Jose Sanchez, 17, of the 100 block of John Street in Franklin, was arrested at 5:24 p.m. Friday for theft of goods, resisting an officer by giving false information and possession of alcohol by a person under 21 years of age.
—Blaise Lott, 17, of the 100 block of Oak Drive in Centerville, was arrested at 5:24 p.m. Friday for theft of goods, resisting an officer by giving false information and possession of alcohol by a person under 21 years of age.
A deputy responded to a complaint of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista. The deputy learned from store personnel that Sanchez and Lott were seen taking items including an alcoholic beverage and concealing them in a backpack that was also taken from inside the store. Both were jailed. Sanchez was released on $1,750 bail and Lott was released on recognizance bail.
—Kevin Koczen, 23, of the 100 block of Moon Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 3:04 a.m. Saturday for disturbing the peace and possession of an open alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle. A deputy responded to a complaint of a suspicious vehicle parked at a business on U.S. 90 in Bayou Vista.
The deputy located a person sleeping inside a pickup truck. The person was identified as Koczen. During the course of the investigation, the deputy received consent to search the vehicle and located an open container of alcohol. Koczen was jailed and released on $1,000 bail.
—A male, 14, of Bayou Vista, was arrested at 6:41 p.m. Saturday for unauthorized use of an access card as theft, simple criminal damage to property, theft, and simple battery. A deputy investigating a complaint of a theft learned that the juvenile took a credit card from a victim and used it online and at a local store. Later in the day, during an argument, the juvenile struck a female. The juvenile was released to a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.
—Hector Munoz-Serrano, 62, of the 100 block of First Street in Gibson, was arrested at 11:03 p.m. Saturday for reckless operation of a vehicle, possession of open alcoholic beverages in a motor vehicle, and unlawful possession of fraudulent documents.
A deputy responded to a report of a traffic incident on La. 182 in the Amelia area. The deputy located a vehicle with one of the tires on top of a curb. The deputy made contact with the driver and requested the he provide an identification card. Munoz-Serrano presented the deputy with a fake Louisiana ID, Hebert stated. Upon further investigation, two opened containers of alcohol were located in the vehicle, he stated. Munoz-Serrano was jailed with no bail set.
—Ciro Perez Mayorga, 39, of the 700 block of Clarke Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 1:25 a.m. Sunday for driving while intoxicated, careless operation, hit and run driving and no driver’s license. A deputy responded to a report of a hit and run incident.
The deputy learned from witnesses that Mayorga sideswiped another vehicle while traveling in a vehicle on Southeast Boulevard, Hebert stated. The deputy made contact with Mayorga at his residence on Clarke Road and smelled the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath and person. The deputy conducted a field sobriety test on which Mayorga performed poorly, Hebert said. Mayorga registered 0.171 grams-percent blood alcohol concentration on the breath test, he stated. Mayorga was jailed with no bail set.
—Iris Lopez, 19, of the 100 block of Village Lane in Amelia, was arrested at 4:19 a.m. Sunday for disturbing the peace. A deputy responded to a complaint of loud music coming from a residence on Village Lane. Upon arrival, the deputy heard loud music coming from the residence.
Previously that night, deputies had responded to another complaint of loud music coming from the same address and had advised Lopez to turn the music down. The deputy again made contact with Lopez who was arrested and released on a summons to appear in court on Aug. 22.
—Shantell N. Soto, 26, of the 500 block of Arcemont Lane in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 3:10 p.m. Sunday for theft. A deputy responded to a complaint of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista. The deputy learned from store personnel that Soto was seen on video surveillance attempting to steal shoes, Hebert stated. Soto was released on a summons to appear in court on Aug. 22.
—Keia K. Johnson, 37, of the 400 block of Camille Drive in Patterson, was arrested at 12:40 p.m. Friday on a warrant for distribution of Schedule III Lortab. Narcotics division detectives located Johnson at a business on U.S. 90 in the Patterson area on the warrant. The warrant stems from an investigation into illegal drug activity during which Johnson sold Lortab pills to an undercover narcotics detective, Hebert stated. Johnson was jailed with no bail set.
—Jadi G. Williams, 25, of the 700 block of Arlington Street in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 1:34 p.m. Friday on a warrant for distribution of marijuana and distribution of Schedule III Lortab. Narcotics detectives located Williams at her residence on the warrant. The warrant stems from an investigation into illegal drug activity during which Williams sold marijuana and Lortab pills to an undercover narcotics detective, Hebert stated. Williams was jailed.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrests:
—Marco Tapia, 23, of the 500 block of Egle Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:25 p.m. Friday for speeding 61 mph in a 45 mph zone and no driver’s license.
—Shawn McCauley, 36, of the 2800 block of Fourth Street in Berwick, was arrested at 4:25 a.m. Saturday for criminal damage to property and disturbing the peace intoxicated.
—Jessie Sanders, 17, of the 4100 block of Pharr Street in Berwick, was arrested at 4:35 p.m. Sunday for reckless operation of a motor vehicle.
—Darius Davis, 22, of the 3200 block of Wren Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:17 p.m. Sunday for speeding 62 mph in a 45 mph zone, possession of marijuana and no insurance.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
