Two Patterson residents were jailed for cocaine possession after St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s detectives conducted a traffic stop Monday night, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Jason Cavalier, 36, of the 100 block of Cremo Lane in Patterson, was arrested at 9:29 p.m. Monday for possession of Schedule II cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia and obstruction of justice.
—Lenessa Stroud, 26, of the 700 block of Kem Street in Patterson, was arrested at 9:29 p.m. Monday for failure to dim headlights, possession of Schedule II cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia and obstruction of justice
Narcotics detectives observed a vehicle fail to dim headlights as it passed and conducted a traffic stop. Detectives made contact with the driver, identified as Stroud and a passenger, identified as Cavalier. Detectives observed Stroud and Cavalier attempt to conceal cocaine, Hebert said. Detectives also located a glass pipe in the vehicle, he said. Both were jailed with no bail set.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 39 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests relating to east St. Mary Parish:
—A juvenile male, 16, of Patterson, was arrested at 11:07 a.m. Monday on a warrant for ungovernable juvenile and simple criminal damage to property. A deputy located the juvenile at the parish courthouse in Franklin on the warrant. The warrant stems from an investigation into a report of a runaway juvenile. When the juvenile returned home, he and another subject were involved in an argument. During the argument, the juvenile damaged a door of the residence. The juvenile was released to the custody of the Office of Juvenile Justice.
—Ronald L. Johnson, 51, of the 300 block of Ditch Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:25 p.m. Monday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of possession of cocaine. Johnson was turned in for bail surrender. Bail is set at $10,000.
—Christopher G. Fryar, 31, of the 100 block of Pond Drive in Bayou L’Ourse, was arrested at 2:25 p.m. Monday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of possession of Schedule I drugs second offense and operating a vehicle with a suspended license. Fryar was turned in for bond surrender and subsequently booked on the warrant. He was released on $6,000 bail.
Morgan City Police Chief Michael Banks reported the following arrests:
—Megan Fontenot, 25, of Berwick, was arrested at 8 a.m. Monday for operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license, stop sign violation and on a Lafayette Parish warrant for failure to appear for arraignment. An officer observed a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign at Freret and Fifth streets. The driver, Fontenot, was jailed.
—Justin P. Scarbrough, 22, of Delmar Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:20 p.m. Monday on a warrant for failure to pay a fine for a red light violation. He was transported from the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center in Centerville to the Morgan City Police Department and jailed.
—Demarcus D. Holly, 18, of Egle Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:52 p.m. Monday on a warrant for contempt of court. Holly was located on Egle Street in Morgan City by an officer and placed under arrest on an outstanding warrant for the Morgan City Police Department. He was jailed.
—Jacob R. Salley, 36, of First Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:21 p.m. Monday on a warrant for failure to appear for no child restraint, a warrant for failure to appear for driving under suspension, a warrant for failure to appear for no insurance, a warrant for failure to pay a probation fee and a warrant for failure to appear for probation. An officer observed a suspicious person in the area of Front and Freret streets and stopped to investigate. He was found to be wanted on several warrants and was jailed.
—Carla Johnson, 52, of Fifth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:52 a.m. today on a warrant for failure to appear for domestic abuse battery and a warrant for failure to appear for second degree battery. An officer observed a suspicious person in the area of South Everett Street in Morgan City. Johnson was found to be wanted on outstanding warrants. Johnson was jailed.
—Robbin M. Vining, 45, of Francis Drive in Berwick, was arrested at 1:26 a.m. today for possession of Schedule I synthetic cannabinoids and possession of drug paraphernalia. An officer observed a vehicle parked in the area of Fourth and Greenwood streets and stopped to investigate. The driver of the vehicle, Vining, was identified. Vining was found to possess items of drug paraphernalia and synthetic cannabinoids. She was jailed.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Zuanita Chartain, 22, of North Rampart Street in New Orleans, was arrested at 12:45 p.m. Monday on a warrant for theft of a motor vehicle. The warrant stems from a call police received regarding a vehicle theft from a Berwick business. Chartain was located at the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center. She was transferred to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center in Centerville with no bail set.
Franklin Police Chief Sabria McGuire reported the following arrests:
—Dedrick Gant, 29, of Live Oak Road in Patterson, was arrested at 4:47 p.m. Monday on a 16th Judicial District Court warrant for failure to appear on the charge of unlawful use of an identification card to gain access to a gaming establishment. Gant was jailed with no bail set.
—Ashaylyn Coleman, 20, of Verdun Lane in Verdunville, was arrested at 6:23 p.m. Monday for disturbing the peace by fighting and on a 16th Judicial District Court warrant for failure to comply with the terms and conditions of probation. Coleman was jailed on $20,250 bail.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
