A 33-year-old Morgan City man was arrested on a warrant Friday stemming from an incident where he broke into a Youngs Road residence Thursday, Morgan City Police Chief Travis Crouch said in a news release.
—Quintal Davis, 33, of Ninth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:04 a.m. Friday for driving under suspension and on a warrant for simple burglary.
While working radar in the area of Sixth and Freret streets, police observed a vehicle traveling 30 mph in a 20 mph zone. Davis was wanted on a warrant for simple burglary. According to the affidavit for arrest, on Thursday, Davis was observed breaking into a residence on Youngs Road, Crouch said. Davis was jailed with no bail set yet.
Crouch also reported the following arrests:
—Dezin Young, 42, of Chetta Lane in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:48 p.m. Friday for improper lane usage, possession of an open alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle, DWI second offense, a warrant for failure to appear for loud music, and driving under suspension and a warrant for Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office for non-support.
—Warren Butler, 43, of Taft Street in Patterson, was arrested at 1:39 a.m. Saturday for driving under suspension, improper lane usage, and possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute.
Police observed a vehicle cross the center lane of travel around La. 182 and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Police conducted a traffic stop and spoke to the driver, Butler. Officers summoned K-9 Lady to the scene at which time she showed odor response on the vehicle, Crouch said. During search of the vehicle, officers located a cellophane bag that contained several large pieces of suspected crack cocaine, he said. Butler was jailed with no bail set yet.
—Lynn Foland, 51, of Seventy Nine Pines in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 11:05 p.m. Saturday for resisting an officer, driving under suspension, no insurance, misrepresentation during booking and no license plate.
—Jose Merida, 42, of Roderick Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:38 a.m. Sunday for improper lane usage, DWI second offense, stop sign violation, possession of an open alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle and possession of contraband in a penal institution.
While on patrol in the area of La. 182 and Myrtle Street, Morgan City police observed a vehicle cross the center line multiple times. An officer followed vehicle as it turned onto Justa Street where it did not come to a complete stop at the intersection of Justa and Allison streets. An officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but vehicle continued on until coming to a stop at an address on Roderick Street.
Upon speaking to the driver, Merida, officers noticed that there was an odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath. Merida registered .162 grams percent blood alcohol content, Crouch stated. Merida was transported to Teche Regional Medical Center for treatment for an injury he sustained. During the course of the treatment, it was found that Merida had a cell phone in his possession. Upon speaking to Merida about the phone, he advised officers that before being locked up in a cell he removed his cell phone from his personal property and hid it on his person prior to being locked down in a holding cell. After his treatment Merida was jailed.
—Alfredo Rodriguez, 39, of Louisa Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:04 p.m. Sunday for no inspection sticker, no driver’s license, and no insurance.
—Rudy Rodas-Solorzano, 43, of Federal Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:33 p.m. Sunday for no driver’s license, no tail lights, and no insurance.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 108 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Brad Derouen, 23, of the 1300 block of Middle Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 9:44 a.m. Saturday on a warrant for theft more than $500.
—Robyn Blanc, 28, of the 1300 block of Middle Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 9:44 a.m. Saturday on a warrant for theft more than $500.
A deputy located Derouen and Blanc at their residence on the warrant. The warrant stems from an investigation into the theft of a mobile phone from a casino in Amelia. Both were jailed with no bail set.
—Christine R. Broussard, 52, of the 8100 block of La. 182 in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:07 p.m. Saturday for theft of goods. A deputy responded to a complaint of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista. Broussard was released on a summons to appear in court April 28.
—Donald J. Fonseca, 29, of the 2500 block of Amanda Lane in Patterson, was arrested at 3:41 p.m. Sunday for leash law violation.
