A Bayou Vista man was charged with third offense domestic violence Sunday morning.
Don Fryou, 26, of the 500 block of Arcemont Lane in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 7:13 a.m. for third offense domestic abuse battery and entering contraband into a penal institution. A deputy responded to a domestic disturbance in progress in which Fryou struck a female, St. Mary Sheriff Mark Hebert said.
Fryou had two previous domestic abuse cases in St. Mary Parish — in 2009 and 2012 — which is why he was charged as a three-time offender and was in possession of contraband during booking, the sheriff said. No bail is set.
Hebert also reported the following arrests:
—Roger Grow, 46, of Morgan City, was arrested at 12:09 a.m. Sunday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of criminal neglect of family. Deputies received information that Grow, who had an active warrant, would be providing disc jockey services at a bar on La. 182 in Bayou Vista. He was located at the business Saturday night and jailed on $23,444.99 bail.
—Charmaine Hebert, 27, of the 500 block of Saturn Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested Friday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of issuing worthless checks. Hebert turned herself in at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center in Centerville on drug court warrants and was charged with the additional warrant offense. No bail is set.
—James Brazie, 54, of the 100 block of Moon Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested Saturday on a warrant from the 32nd Judicial District for failure to appear on traffic charges. Brazie remained jailed this morning with no bail set.
—Ronald Vercher, 55, of La. 317 in Franklin, was arrested at 1:06 p.m. Saturday for theft of goods at a store in Bayou Vista. The deputy learned from store personnel that Vercher was seen placing items in a bag and attempting to leave the store without paying for them, Hebert said. He was issued a summons to appear in court.
—Larry Williams, 18, of the 1700 block of Kemper Street in Patterson, was arrested at 7:55 p.m. Saturday for possession of open alcoholic beverages in a motor vehicle, careless operation of a motor vehicle and no seatbelt. A deputy responded to the report of a crash into a telephone pole on La. 182 in the Patterson area. Williams was given a summons to appear in court.
—Jermaine Keys, 38, of the 1000 block of Grace Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:06 p.m. Sunday for two head lamps required, driving under suspension, expired license plate, no proof of insurance, possession of open alcoholic beverages in a motor vehicle and on a warrant from Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office for speeding and driving under suspension. A deputy patrolling the Amelia area saw a vehicle with a head light that was not functioning and conducted a traffic stop and subsequently found an open bottle of beer inside the vehicle. Keys remained jailed on $2,550 bail.
—Dawn Berry Height, 44, of the 100 block of Carriage Cove Lane in Ricohoc, was arrested at 10:50 p.m. Sunday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of simple battery. A deputy located Height at her residence on the warrant. She was released on $500 bail.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Thomas Morrison, 48, of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., was arrested at 3:10 a.m. Sunday for first offense DWI on La. 182 in Berwick. He submitted to an Intoxilyzer test in which he registered .226 grams-percent. No bail is set.
Morgan City Police Chief Travis Crouch reported the following arrests:
—Joquisha Mingo, 28, of Eleventh Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:55 a.m. Saturday for purse snatching after officers received a complaint at a Roderick Street address. Officers arrived and learned that Mingo had come to the residence, knocked on the door and began to beg for money. The homeowner said that as he attempted to give Mingo a small amount of money, she grabbed money from his wallet and left the area. Officers located Mingo and recovered the money which totaled in excess of $100. Mingo remained jailed this morning with no bail set.
—Reandra W. Taylor, 26, of Texas Street in Berwick, was arrested at 12:06 p.m. Friday on warrants for speeding and no driver’s license. Taylor was located at the intersection of Fourth Street and Brashear Avenue while officers were assisting the Berwick Police Department with a traffic stop. She was released after posting a cash bond.
—Kelvin D. Williams, 36, of Baton Rouge, was arrested at 2:40 p.m. Friday for operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license, speeding 30/15; and no liability insurance proof as well as fugitive warrants from East Baton Rouge Parish with warrants for second offense DWI, vehicular negligent injury, careless operation, driving under suspension, no child restraint, no license plate and no insurance. An officer patrolling the school zone area near Marguerite Street stopped a vehicle after it was observed speeding in a marked school zone. No bail is set.
—Douglas D. Dilsaver, 31, of Fig Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:18 p.m. Friday for theft by shoplifting (less than $500). Officers were dispatched to a local drug store regarding a shoplifter who concealed a pre-paid cellular phone and attempted to leave the store. Upon arrest, Dilsaver was found in possession of other items such as a memory card and reader which was also taken from the business, Crouch said. He was released after posting a cash bond.
—Christopher Pollard, 28, of Morgan City, was arrested at 8:53 a.m. Saturday for stop sign violation and driving under suspension. Pollard was detained in the area of Freret Street and Federal Avenue. He was released after posting a cash bond.
—Rebecca B. Martin, 42, of Keith Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:50 a.m. Sunday for entry on premises after being forbidden and appearing in an intoxicated condition at an Allison Street residence. No bail is set.
—Ernest C. Medoza, 64, of Fourth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:44 p.m. Sunday on a warrant for domestic abuse battery. Mendoza was located at a Fourth Street residence. The warrant which stemmed from an incident alleged to have occurred Saturday in which he is accused of striking a female during a domestic argument. No bail is set.
—Dale R. Fromenthal, 56, of Bowman Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:37 p.m. Sunday for disturbing the peace intoxicated after a disturbance at a Bowman Street residence. No bail is set.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrests:
—Michael Sweetser, 31, of River Road in Berwick, was charged at 12:52 a.m. Sunday for stop sign violation, expired license plate, suspended driver’s license, second offense DWI, expired motor vehicle inspection sticker, no insurance, improper lane usage, careless operation and open container in vehicle. No bail is set.
—Dontrell Williams, 20, of Ellis Street in Patterson, was charged at 1:33 a.m. Sunday for disturbing the peace, resisting an officer with flight and possession of a firearm. No bail is set.
—Steisha Brown, 29, of Levee Road in Morgan City, was charged at 2:08 p.m. Sunday for telephone harassment. She was released after posting $1,000 bail.
