Arrest reports

Morgan City Police Chief Michael Banks reported the following arrests:
—Norris Paul Touchet, 42, of St. Martinville, was arrested at 12:12 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for theft of a motor vehicle.
Touchet was located at the St. Martinville Sheriff’s Office. Touchet is accused of committing the theft of a motor vehicle from the Morgan City area, Banks said. Touchet was jailed.
—Chinelle Prestenbach, 42, of Morgan City, was arrested at 10:09 a.m. Tuesday for failure to report an accident, simple criminal damage to property and careless operation.
Prestenbach was located at Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Department and placed under arrest on a warrant stemming from an investigation into a vehicle crash which occurred in Morgan City on Aug. 7, 2013, that damaged property at Lake End Park in Morgan City. Prestenbach was accused of operating the vehicle then leaving the scene. She was identified during the investigation and a warrant secured for her arrest. She was released after posting cash bail.
—Shantell L. Hall, 37, of Berwick, was arrested at 6:16 p.m. Tuesday for theft of goods (value $143.27).
—Kimberly R. Harris, 42, of Levee Road in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:16 p.m. Tuesday for theft of goods (value $143.27), possession of Schedule IV Soma, possession of Schedule IV Alprazolam and taking contraband to/from a penal institution.
Officers were dispatched to a Brashear Avenue pharmacy in regard to a shoplifter. Officers were advised that two females had taken items from the shelves, concealed the items in a bag and left the store without paying for the items.
Officers located the suspects in the parking lot and identified them as Harris and Hall. Both Harris and Hall were detained and upon examining video footage, both were observed placing 18 items in a bag and leave the store. Both were jailed.
Once at the police department, Harris was found to have concealed several pills of Schedule IV controlled dangerous substances and introducing the items into the penal facility. Both remain in jail.
—Donald J. Myers, 47, of La. 182 in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:17 p.m. Tuesday for possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, no seat belt, and operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license.
—Luke A. Newcomb, 27, of Bayou L’Ourse, was arrested at 8:17 p.m. Tuesday for possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute.
An officer observed a vehicle at La. 182 and Ditch Avenue being operated by a driver who was not wearing the proper restraint. The officer stopped the vehicle to investigate.
Officers discovered that the vehicle contained three cellophane bags containing several ounces of suspected marijuana. Officers learned that the illegal substance was purchased in the Jeanerette area and was being transported into the Morgan City area. Both were jailed.
—Stephen B. Shultz, 17, of Stephensville Road in Stephensville, was arrested at 10:50 p.m. Tuesday for possession of Schedule I marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, improper lighting (two headlights required), improper license plate illumination and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.
An officer observed a vehicle in the area of Mayon and Marshall streets with improper lighting and stopped the vehicle to investigate. The driver, Shultz, was identified and upon speaking with the driver, he appeared nervous and the officer detected a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. Officers located suspected marijuana inside the vehicle and items of drug paraphernalia. Shultz was in the company of two male juvenile ages 15 and 16. Shultz was jailed. The two male juveniles were released to family members pending court proceedings.
—Jonathan J. Lindsey, 29, of Gibson, was arrested at 11:41 a.m. Tuesday on warrants for failure to pay a fine for speeding, failure to pay a fine for driving under suspension, failure to pay a fine for no insurance, failure to pay a fine for loud music, failure to pay a fine for contempt of court, failure to pay a fine for loud music, a St. Mary Sheriff’s Office warrant for a drug court violation, red light violation and operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license.
An officer at La. 182 and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard observed a vehicle fail to negotiate a red light signal and stopped the vehicle to investigate.
The driver, Lindsey, was found to be operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license. Lindsey was also found to be wanted on several outstanding warrants. He was jailed.
—Tonisha K. Knight, 24, of Amelia, was arrested at 2:47 a.m. today for operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license.
An officer encountered a vehicle being driven erratically near the intersection of Second Street and Brashear Avenue and stopped the vehicle to investigate. The driver, Knight, could not produce a valid driver’s license and was jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 46 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Areana Candanedo, 23, of the 400 block of Halsey Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday for theft. A deputy responded to a complaint of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista. The deputy learned from store personnel that Candanedo took an item from the store without paying for it and then attempted to return the item for a refund. Candanedo was released on a summons to appear in court on July 11.
—Patricia Horton, 48, of the 4000 block of Francis Street in Berwick, was arrested at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday for theft of goods. A deputy responded to a complaint of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista. The deputy learned from store personnel that Horton was seen concealing items in her purse before leaving the store without paying for the goods. Horton was released on a summons to appear in court on July 11.
—Tenesha Scott, 24, of the 100 block of Arstill Road in Bayou L’Ourse, was arrested at 8:18 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to comply with the terms and conditions of probation and on a warrant from the 32nd Judicial District Court for failure to appear on the charge of disturbing the peace. A deputy investigating a complaint of a disturbance made contact with Scott who was wanted on the warrants. Scott was jailed with no bail set.
—Douglas Cobler, 50, of the 200 block of E. Iowa Street in Singer, was arrested at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday for disturbing the peace intoxication. A deputy responded to a complaint of a disturbance at a business located on U.S. 90 in Bayou Vista. The deputy made contact with Cobler who smelled strongly of an alcoholic beverage. The deputy learned that Cobler had been arguing with another male. Cobler was jailed with bail set at $500.
—Kyle Parker, 37, of the 200 block of Oak Crest Drive in Lafayette, was arrested at 3:16 p.m. Monday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of violation of a protective order. Parker was transported from the Lafayette Parish jail to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on the warrant. Parker was released on $5,000 bail.
—Neal Laperouse, 52, of the 1400 block of Point Noir Road in Branch, was arrested Monday on three warrants for failure to appear on the charge of domestic abuse battery, failure to appear on the charge of DWI, and issuing worthless checks. Laperouse was transported from the Lafayette Parish jail to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on the warrant. Laperouse was released on $4,500 bail.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
