A deputy making a traffic stop for speeding on Teche Road ended up issuing more than a ticket.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said during the traffic stop, the deputy received a description from dispatch of a car involved in a shoplifting incident at a store in Bayou Vista.
The car fit the description of the one stopped for speeding, Hebert said.
The deputy located two new air conditioners, valued at $325, in the trunk of the car, Hebert said.
—Malcolm L. Green, 26, of the 100 block of Kitrich Road in Napoleonville, was arrested at 12:21 p.m. Wednesday for maximum speed limit, no driver’s license, theft of goods, resisting an officer (giving false information) and on a Lafourche Parish warrant for theft of goods.

—Jessica Marts, 22, of the 200 block of David Drive in Thibodaux, was arrested at 12:21 p.m. Wednesday for theft of goods.
The deputy also determined that Green gave him a false name and was driving without a license. Green was transported to the parish jail for booking and later turned over to Lafourche Parish. Tillman and Marts were released on summons to appear in court Oct. 13. The air conditioners were returned to the store.
Hebert also reported the following arrests:

A deputy responded to a complaint of the unauthorized entry of a residence on Lagonda Lane. A witness saw two people leaving the home, one of whom was later identified as Leblanc. Hebert said Leblanc admitted entering the home without the permission of the homeowner.
Leblanc was jailed with no bail set. The case remains open pending the arrest of the second person who was also identified during the investigation, Hebert said.
—Karl L. Davis, 24, of the 100 block of Keller Lane in Franklin, was arrested at 7:18 p.m. Wednesday on a Department of Public Safety and Corrections Division of Probation and Parole warrant for a probation and parole violation. A deputy assisting U.S. Customs agents in executing the warrant located Davis on a barge on Degravelle Road in Amelia, Hebert said.
