Franklin man jailed for Viagra possession without prescription; illegal carrying of weapon

A 43-year-old Franklin man was jailed for possession of Viagra, Lortab and Xanax pills without a prescription and cocaine after being stopped for driving recklessly, Morgan City Police Chief Michael Banks said in a news release.
—Jonathan J. Arcemont, 43, of Eisenhower Street in Franklin, was arrested at 12:28 p.m. Friday for improper turning, possession of Schedule II cocaine with the intent to distribute, possession of Schedule III Xanax, possession of Schedule III Lortab, possession of a Legend Drug without a prescription for Viagra, possession of drug paraphernalia and illegal carrying of a weapon.
Officers received a complaint of a vehicle being driven in a reckless manner near Marguerite Street. Officers located a vehicle matching the description.
The driver of the vehicle, upon being stopped, exited his vehicle and started walking towards the officer. The subject, identified as Arcemont was observed reaching into his pocket while walking. The officer observed a knife protruding from the pocket from Arcemont’s pocket, Banks said. Arcemont was found to possess several cellophane baggies which contained suspected cocaine. He was also found to possess several small bags and containers of several pills identified as Xanax, Lortab and Viagra, for which Arcemont did not have a prescription, Banks said. Arcemont was also found to be in possession of various items of drug paraphernalia. He was jailed.
Morgan City Police Chief Michael Banks reported the following arrests:
—Emmanuel Mercado, 24, of Patterson, was arrested at 7:37 a.m. Friday on a warrant for failure to appear for speeding, a warrant for failure to appear for no driver’s license, improper lane usage, no driver’s license third offense and no insurance.
An officer patrolling the school zone area near Federal and Brashear avenues observed a vehicle being driven in an erratic manner and stopped the vehicle to investigate. The driver, Mercado, was found not to possess a valid driver’s license nor liability insurance. He was jailed.
—Nicholas Breaux, 35, of Morgan City, was arrested at 10:31 a.m. Friday for criminal trespassing.
Officers were dispatched to property located near the area of Levee Road and Front Street regarding people trespassing on the property.
Breaux was located by the owner of the property who had reported unwanted people entering the posted property committing acts of vandalism and damage to property. Breaux, who was observed with an unidentified female on the property, was arrested after witnesses observed them attempting to enter onto an abandoned boat in the area, Banks stated. The female, who had fled the scene before officers arrived was not located, Banks said. Breaux was jailed.
—Brandon M. Collier, 18, of Brownell Homes in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:23 p.m. Friday for second degree battery.
Officers were dispatched to the area of Sixth and Gen. MacArthur streets regarding someone being struck in the head. Officers found the victim with an injury to the forehead area which required the victim receiving medical treatment at Teche Regional Medical Center. According to the victim, he was struck by a man who left the area on foot, Banks said.
Officers located a person fitting the description and identified him as Collier, the chief said. Collier was positively identified as the suspect causing the injury, Banks said. Collier was jailed.
—Marilyn Hatch, 35, of Glenwood Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:49 p.m. Friday for felony theft – $697.75.
Hatch was wanted on a warrant accusing Hatch of making purchases using an access card without the owner's permission and knowledge, Banks said. Hatch was jailed and released after posting cash bail.
—Taj M. Broussard, 18, of Fifth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:56 p.m. Friday for possession of crack cocaine with the intent to distribute, distribution of crack cocaine and a handicap parking violation.
—Dan T. Mouzakis, 52, of Pharr Street in Berwick, was arrested at 10:56 p.m. Friday for possession of crack cocaine.
Narcotics detectives observed a suspicious man walking in a known drug area, Banks said. The man traveled to the area of Fifth Street and Brashear Avenue and met with another man in a vehicle who had pulled into a handicap parking spot in the parking lot.
The subjects appeared to be involved in some type of transaction and were detained by detectives. They were identified as Mouzakis and Broussard. Mouzakis was found to possess crack cocaine. During the investigation, detectives learned that Broussard had supplied Mouzakis with the cocaine prior to officers’ intervention.
Broussard was arrested and found to possess more than $800 in cash, which was seized. Both men were arrested and upon arrival at the Morgan City Police Department, it was discovered that Broussard had attempted to discard a cellophane bag which contained additional crack cocaine in the rear of the police unit, Banks stated. Both were jailed.
—Shunta R. Jones, 19, of Glenwood Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:38 p.m. Friday for operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license, speeding 36 mph in a 25 mph zone and possession of drug paraphernalia.
—Latifha Friels, 21, of Third Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:04 a.m. Saturday for possession of drug paraphernalia.
An officer observed a vehicle speeding in the area of Levee Road and Sixth Street. The vehicle was stopped and the driver was identified as Jones.
During a search of the vehicle, a grinder used to process marijuana was located in the vehicle, Banks said. The passenger of the vehicle, Friels, nor Jones claimed knowledge of the paraphernalia. They were both jailed.
—Michael A. Leonard, 35, of Amelia, was arrested at 2:33 p.m. Saturday for simple battery.
Officers received a complaint of a person being struck by another in the area of La. 182 and Cottonwood Street during a confrontation. Officers learned from the victim that he had become involved in a verbal altercation while attempting to fuel his vehicle at a gas pump with another subject who he accused of punching him, causing him to fall to the ground, Banks stated. Leonard admitted to officers that he struck the subject during the argument, Banks said. Leonard was jailed.
—William S. Crisp, 39, of Tiffany Street in Patterson, was arrested at 8:37 p.m. Saturday for driving while intoxicated second offense, speeding 45 mph/25 mph zone and improper lane usage.
An officer observed a vehicle being driven in an erratic manner in the area of Federal Avenue and Terrebonne Street and stopped the vehicle to investigate.
The driver of the vehicle, Crisp, displayed signs of being impaired and was given a field sobriety test which he failed. Crisp was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he submitted to an Intoxilyzer 5000 test which indicated a blood alcohol concentration of .254 grams-percent, Banks stated. Crisp was jailed.
—Edin Garcia, 26, of Houston, was arrested at 8:44 p.m. Saturday for no driver’s license and two counts of stop sign violation.
An officer observed a vehicle fail to yield at two stop signs in the area of Federal Avenue and Onstead Street and stopped the vehicle to investigate. The driver, Garcia, could not produce a valid driver’s license and was jailed.
—Leo J. Dore, 41, of Bush Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:52 p.m. Saturday for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
Morgan City police received a complaint of a vehicle being driven in an erratic manner on La. 70 near Lake End Park. Officers located the vehicle described. The driver, Dore, exhibited signs of impairment and was given a field sobriety test which he failed. Dore refused the Intoxilyzer 5000 test, Banks said. Dore was jailed.
—Brock E. Williams, 34, of Joseph Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:28 a.m. Sunday for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, reckless operation of a moveable, no driver’s license, expired motor vehicle registration and on a warrant for no driver's license.
An officer observed a vehicle being driven in a reckless manner in the area of Fifth and Everett streets and stopped the vehicle to investigate. The driver, Williams, could not produce a valid driver’s license nor current vehicle registration.
Williams, who exhibited signs of impairment, was given an opportunity to complete a field sobriety test which he refused to complete, Banks said. Williams was given an Intoxilyzer 5000 test, which indicated a blood alcohol concentration of .177 grams-percent, Banks stated. Williams was jailed.
—Mandi Hatfield, 26, of Arkansas Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:53 p.m. Sunday for possession of a Legend Drug without a prescription for Tizanidine Hydrochloride and on a warrant from St. Mary Parish Drug Court for two counts of failure to comply.
Officers were dispatched to a domestic complaint at an Arkansas Street residence. Officers came into contact with Hatfield who was discovered to be wanted on outstanding warrants for the St. Mary Parish Drug Court. She was arrested. She was also found to be in possession of a prescription drug without a valid prescription. She was jailed.
—Willie J. Vallet, 47, of Verdun Lane in Franklin, was arrested at 3:42 p.m. Sunday for possession of Schedule II cocaine, violation of the uniformed dangerous substance law (school zone), possession of paraphernalia, and on a warrant from St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office for failure to appear for criminal neglect of family.
Officers were dispatched to a car wash located at Roderick and Glenwood streets regarding someone passed out behind the wheel in the car wash. Officers located the vehicle and identified the driver as Vallet.
During the investigation, officers recovered suspected crack cocaine and a pipe commonly used to smoke illegal narcotics inside the vehicle, Banks said. Vallet was also found to be wanted on an outstanding warrant for the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office. The area, which is across the street from an elementary school, resulted in additional charges against Vallet. He was jailed.
—Christopher H. Gough, 42, of Hilda Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:24 p.m. Sunday for domestic abuse battery.
Officers were dispatched to a La. 182 RV park in regard to a domestic disturbance. Officers encountered a female with injuries she said she sustained when she was struck repeatedly by her boyfriend, Gough. The victim was treated by Acadian Ambulance for her injuries. Officers located Gough, who refused to cooperate, and was found to have blood splatter indicating an altercation on his clothing, Banks said. He was jailed.
—Daniel T. Colbert, 19, of Cypress, Texas, was arrested at 6:49 p.m. Sunday on a warrant for theft by shoplifting, a warrant for failure to pay a probation fee, a warrant for failure to pay a fine for contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile, a warrant for a probation violation for no proof of enrollment, and a warrant from the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office for simple battery.
Colbert was located at the Patterson Police Department. Colbert was transported to the Morgan City Jail.
—Rodney Castle, 61, of Shannon Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:42 p.m. Sunday for appearing intoxicated in public.
Officers were dispatched to the area of the “Mr. Charlie” rig museum in regards to an intoxicated person. Officers arrived and located Castle who could barely stand and smelled of alcoholic beverage, Banks stated. Castle could not secure a family member or assistance and was placed under arrest. He was jailed.
—Thomas Anderson, 52, of Joseph Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:19 p.m. Sunday for operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license, improper lighting and a warrant from Patterson police for wrong way on a one-way street.
An officer observed a vehicle with improper lighting and stopped the vehicle on Railroad Avenue and Fourth Street to investigate. The driver, Anderson, could not produce a valid driver’s license. Anderson was jailed.
