Patterson man charged with attacking police car

A 33-year-old Patterson man was arrested after he fled the scene of a hit and run crash in Amelia and later tried to kick out the window of a police vehicle, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Troy Carnley, 33, of the 500 block of Henry Street in Patterson, was arrested at 2:09 p.m. Saturday for hit and run driving, criminal trespass, two counts of resisting an officer, two counts of battery of a police officer, four counts of resisting a police officer with force or violence, possession of alcoholic beverages in a motor vehicle, two counts of simple criminal damage to property more than $500, no driver’s license, careless operation of a motor vehicle with a crash, and four counts of threatening a public official.
A deputy responded to a report of a hit and run crash on La. 182 in Amelia. Dispatch relayed a description of a male and female who fled the area on foot following the crash at the Janice Marcel Bridge. The deputy located a man matching the description at a nearby RV park, Hebert said.
The man was seen crouching behind a trailer with blood on his face. As the deputy approached, the man crawled under the residence. After issuing several commands to come out from beneath the residence, the deputy apprehended and detained the man who was identified as Carnley. Carnley was returned to the site of the crash where deputies observed an open container of liquor inside the vehicle. Deputies also observed damage to the bridge caused by the impact of the vehicle.
Carnley repeatedly yelled profanities, made verbal threats, and attempted to resist arrest by pulling away from deputies, the report stated. At one point, Carnley attempted to kick out the window of a police unit, Hebert stated. Carnley refused medical treatment, yelling profanities and spitting on medical personnel, Hebert said. Carnley was jailed with no bail set. An additional arrest in the crash investigation is pending, Hebert said.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 87 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests relating to east St. Mary Parish:
—Gregory Payne, 38, of the 1900 block of Saturn Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 8:20 p.m. Saturday for domestic abuse battery (strangulation), domestic abuse battery, disturbing the peace intoxication. A deputy responded to a call of a medical emergency at a residence on Saturn Road. The deputy learned that Payne was involved in an argument when he pushed two women causing one to fall to the floor. One of the victims had been transported to a local hospital. Continuing the investigation, the deputy went to the hospital and observed red marks and bruising on the woman’s neck. Payne was jailed with no bail set.
—Katherine V. Stoute, 21, of the 100 block of Mallard Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:48 p.m. Saturday for theft of goods. A deputy responded to a complaint of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista. Stoute was released on a summons to appear in court March 26.
—Brennan M. Moore, 18, of the 100 block of Level Street in Franklin, was arrested at 12:50 a.m. Sunday for possession of Schedule I synthetic marijuana.
—Dylan Boiling, 17, of the 200 block of Hunting Road in Franklin, was arrested at 12:50 a.m. Sunday for possession of Schedule I synthetic marijuana.
—Trent Duhon, 19, of the 800 block of U.S. 90 in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 12:50 a.m. Sunday for possession of Schedule I synthetic marijuana.
A deputy patrolling the Centerville area saw a vehicle at the Centerville Park off La. 317. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Moore, and two passengers identified as Boiling and Duhon. The deputy received consent to search the vehicle and located a pack of synthetic marijuana and two cigar papers containing suspected synthetic marijuana. The three subjects were transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. Moore, Boiling and Duhon were each released on $2,000 bail.
—Jeana Williams, 20, of the 100 block of Elaine Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:27 a.m. Sunday for simple battery and disturbing the peace.
—Kenneth McDonald, 27, of the 100 block of Shannon Lane in Patterson, was arrested at 12:27 a.m. Sunday for simple battery and disturbing the peace.
A deputy responded to a report of a battery in progress. The deputy learned that Williams and McDonald committed batteries upon each other. Both were jailed. McDonald’s bond is set at $750. Williams was released on $750 bail.
Morgan City Police Chief Travis Crouch reported the following arrests:
—Leanna R. Gresco, 22, of La. 70 in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:51 a.m. Sunday for disturbing the peace by fighting, simple battery and resisting an officer.
—Danielle L. Billiot, 21, of La. 70 in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:51 a.m. Sunday for appearing in an intoxicated condition.
Officers were dispatched to a Roderick Street lounge in regards to a fight. Officers located a disturbance. An officer attempted to detain one person involved in the disturbance. She was ordered to step from her vehicle, which she refused. Witnesses advised that Gresco was involved in a fist fight with another person. During the altercation, she allegedly struck another patron as they were attempting to intervene.
During the investigation, a female, identified as Billiot, who was intoxicated, began to shout obscenities and create a disturbance, Crouch said. She was advised several times to refrain but refused. Both were jailed.
—Irving R. Clark, 25, of Birmingham, Ala., was arrested at 6:23 p.m. Sunday for theft less than $500.
Officers received a complaint in regards to a subject chasing another in the area of Fourth and Freret streets. Officers arrived and discovered that a subject, who had been the victim of a theft was attempting to chase the subject who had stolen his bicycle from the corner of Fifth and Everett streets, Crouch said.
The victim provided a description of the suspect, Jones, who was located in the area. Clark was arrested for the theft of the bicycle and jailed. The stolen item was returned to the proper owner, Crouch said.
—Quentin D. Businelle, 34, of Willow Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:16 a.m. today for careless operation and hit and run driving.
Officers were dispatched to a Sixth Street residence in regards to a crash. Officers arrived and were advised by a female that Businelle followed her to her home in Morgan City. She told officers that Businelle rammed his vehicle into the rear of her vehicle in the Sixth Street area and left the scene. Officers located Businelle and he was jailed.
—Gerald Jones, 39, of La. 182 in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:31 p.m. Sunday on a warrant for theft less than $300, a warrant for possession of marijuana, and resisting by giving false information.
Officers were dispatched to a complaint at a La. 182 apartment complex when an officer came into contact with Gerald Jones. Jones was found to be wanted on outstanding warrants for the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Department. Jones attempted to conceal his true identity from officers by providing false information. He was jailed.
—Demarcus D. Holly, 17, of Egle Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:10 p.m. Friday for possession of marijuana.
An officer observed a vehicle fail to properly stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Terrebonne and Shannon streets in Morgan City. The driver was an unlicensed 14-year-old juvenile. The officer suspected the presence of an illegal substance in the vehicle and continued the investigation, Crouch said. The passengers inside the vehicle, Holly, a 14-year-old male juvenile and five female juveniles ranging in age from 15 to 16 were detained. During the investigation, suspected marijuana was recovered from inside the vehicle. The juvenile occupants of the vehicle were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana. They were released to their guardians pending court proceedings. Holly was jailed and released on cash bail.
