Police: Suspect caught after high-speed chase

A 22-year-old Patterson man led authorities past Amelia on a high-speed chase topping 100 mph Sunday, striking vehicles along the way, before police finally caught him, Morgan City Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.
—Chaz M. Rebardi, 22, of Mill Road in Patterson, was arrested at 7:47 p.m. Sunday on the charges of aggravated flight from an officer, aggravated obstruction of a highway and reckless operation of a motor vehicle.
Morgan City police were contacted by Berwick police in regard to the driver of a vehicle being involved in a domestic disturbance and a hit and run crash. An officer saw a vehicle matching the description traveling in the area of Brashear Avenue and Sixth Street. The officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop when the vehicle refused to stop and began to flee from the officer.
A vehicle pursuit ensued when the officer followed the vehicle through several city streets. The fleeing vehicle showed no regard for stop signs or traffic signals, Blair said. The pursuit continued on La. 182 reaching speeds in excess of 100 mph outside of the city limits and into Amelia, striking two vehicles in the process.
The chase continued east on La. 182, and then the vehicle got onto U.S. 90 continuing to travel over 100 mph. The vehicle was later stopped with the assistance of state police in the area of U.S. 90 near La. 311. The driver of the vehicle, Rebardi, was taken into custody and jailed.
Blair reported the following arrests:
—Eric C. Davis, 54, of Fourth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:59 p.m. Thursday on the charge of disturbing the peace intoxicated.
An officer responded to the 1000 block of Federal Avenue in regard to a report of a person lying in the middle of the roadway. The officer located a person who matched the description provided and identified him as Davis. The officer spoke with Davis who allegedly told the officer he had too much to drink. Police suspected Davis of drinking and that he appeared to be intoxicated. Davis was jailed.
—Jamone D. Jones, 25, of Hobson Street in Houma, was arrested at 10:12 p.m. Thursday on the charges of improper lane usage, driving under suspension and possession of marijuana.
A patrolling officer observed a vehicle on La. 182 near Seventh Street traveling out of its designated lane of travel and stopped the vehicle. The driver was identified as Jones.
Jones’ behavior made the officer suspicious that he may be involved in illegal drug activity. Police located marijuana during a search at the scene. Jones had a suspended driver’s license and had an active Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office warrant. Jones was jailed.
—Summer Billiot, 31, of Southeast Boulevard in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 12:46 p.m. Friday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of disturbing the peace by fighting, a warrant charging her with aggravated battery and the charge of unauthorized use of an access card.
Police located Billiot at a home on Mallard Street and arrested her on warrants. Investigators had also developed Billiot as a suspect in an incident reported Jan. 28 of alleged unauthorized use of an access card. Investigators found evidence of Billiot’s involvement where she used a stolen access card to make purchases at a business in Morgan City. Billiot was jailed.
—Robert L. Lyles, 61, of La. 182 in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:14 p.m. Friday on a warrant charging him with theft by shoplifting.
Lyles was transported from the Patterson Police Department to the Morgan City Police Department in regard to an active warrant. The warrant stems from an investigation into an incident reported Jan. 23 of an alleged theft by shoplifting valued at $83.40 from a supermarket. Lyles was jailed.
—Gaspar Jimenez Aguilar, 26, of Calhoun Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 6 p.m. Friday on the charge of no driver’s license.
An officer observed a vehicle disregard a traffic signal near the intersection of La. 182 and Ditch Avenue. The driver, Aguilar, did not have a valid driver’s license. Aguilar was jailed.
—Miguel O. Batueca Zaldivar, 27, of Wyoming Street in Baton Rouge, was arrested at 12:02 p.m. Saturday on the charges of speeding 51 mph in a 35 mph zone, no vehicle insurance, driving under suspension and possession of cocaine.
A patrolling officer observed a vehicle speeding on La. 182 near 11th Street and stopped the vehicle. The driver, Zaldivar, had a suspended driver’s license, and the vehicle didn’t have insurance. Zaldivar was jailed.
—Joseph L. Estay III, 46, of Aucoin Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2 p.m. Saturday on the charges of hit and run, careless operation of a motor vehicle and expired motor vehicle inspection sticker.
Officers responded to the area of La. 182 near the Greenwood Overpass in regard to a vehicle accident in which one of the vehicles involved had fled the area. Police located a vehicle matching a description on La. 182 near Seventh Street moments later and stopped the vehicle. The driver was identified as Estay.
Police found evidence of Estay’s involvement in the hit and run crash. Estay was jailed.
—Jose D. Gomez Morales, 37, of North Canal Boulevard in Thibodaux, was arrested at 4:17 p.m. Saturday on the charges of speeding 48 mph in a 35 mph zone and driving under suspension.
A patrolling officer observed a vehicle speeding on La. 182 near 11th Street and stopped the vehicle. The driver, Morales, had a suspended driver’s license. Morales was jailed.
—Jose Hernandez-Reyes, 50, of Mayon Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9 p.m. Saturday on warrants charging him with hit and run driving and careless operation of a motor vehicle.
Officers located Hernandez-Reyes at a home on Mayon Street and arrested him on warrants. The warrants stem from an investigation into a Dec. 15, 2016, incident of an alleged careless operation involving a hit and run. Hernandez-Reyes was jailed.
—Zachary M. Crappell, 23, of North First Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:53 p.m. Saturday on the charges of improper tail lighting and possession of marijuana.
A patrolling officer observed a vehicle traveling in the area of Sixth Street near Levee Road with improper tail lights and stopped the vehicle. The driver was identified as Crappell. His behavior made police suspicious that he may be involved in illegal drug activity.
The officer searched the vehicle and located suspected marijuana. Crappell was jailed.
—Luis Frank Perez-Rivera II, 19, of Karen Drive in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:40 a.m. Sunday on the charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A patrolling officer observed a vehicle parked behind a closed business on La. 182. The officer identified Perez-Rivera as the occupant of the vehicle.
Perez-Rivera’s behavior made police suspicious that he may be involved in illegal drug activity. The officer searched the vehicle and located suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Perez-Rivera was jailed.
—Darius Brown, 38, of Clements Street in Patterson, was arrested at 11:14 a.m. Sunday on the charge of entering or remaining in places after forbidden.
Officers responded to a medical facility on La. 70 in regard to removing a person. Police arrived when they located the person in question, identified as Brown. Police were told by medical staff that Brown was causing a disturbance and was instructed to leave the facility. Police then instructed Brown to leave the facility, but he refused. Brown was jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 111 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Edward J. Trimm Sr., 62, of Ciro Street in Siracusa, was arrested at 8:25 p.m. Sunday on the charge of domestic abuse battery by strangulation.
A deputy responded to a report of domestic abuse at a home in Siracusa. The deputy found evidence that Trimm placed his hands around a woman’s throat and choked her. Trimm was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Trimm was released after posting $2,500 bail.
—Korianne Parker, 28, of Carol Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 10:09 p.m. Sunday on warrants charging her with simple battery, disturbing the peace, intimidating, impeding or injuring witnesses, criminal trespass and unauthorized use of an inhabited dwelling and on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of direct contempt, operating a vehicle without proof of insurance, careless operation of a motor vehicle and failure to honor written promise to appear.
The warrant for simple battery and disturbing the peace was obtained following an investigation that began Jan. 20 when deputies responded to a report of a disturbance in the 300 block of Carol Road in Bayou Vista. The detective assigned to the case collected evidence that Parker engaged in an argument that escalated into a physical altercation outside of the home between several suspects. Six other suspects were arrested in the incident.
The warrant for criminal trespass and unauthorized use of an inhabited dwelling was issued following an investigation into a report of an unauthorized entry of a home in Ricohoc in October. The deputy assigned to investigate the incident found evidence that Parker and another suspect entered onto private property and went into a home without the resident’s permission.
This is the second arrest made in this investigation. The warrant for intimidating, impeding, or injuring witnesses is related to this investigation. The warrant was issued after a detective found evidence that Parker made threats to a victim via Facebook.
Parker turned herself in at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center after learning of the warrant for her arrest. Parker was released after posting a $5,750 bail.
—Michael L. Howard, 46, of Stephensville Road in Stephensville, was arrested at 11:48 p.m. Sunday on the charges of driving under suspension, possession of open alcoholic beverages in motor vehicles, possession of methamphetamine, possession of amphetamine and dextroamphetamine, possession of Vyvanse, possession of marijuana, possession of alprazolam, possession of tramadol, possession of drug paraphernalia and on warrants for failure to appear on the charge of domestic abuse battery, for failure to appear on the charges of expired motor vehicle inspections, no motor vehicle insurance, failure to carry vehicle registration certificate and for probation violation.
A deputy received information regarding Howard’s whereabouts. The deputy located the suspect, who was wanted on multiple warrants, driving a vehicle on La. 70 in Morgan City and conducted a traffic stop.
During Howard’s arrest, the deputy found marijuana, pills, and a pipe containing burnt marijuana residue on him. The deputy also observed a pill bottle inside the vehicle containing marijuana.
Continuing the investigation, the deputy located methamphetamine, additional pills and an open container of alcohol. The deputy also found that Howard was operating the vehicle with a suspended driver’s license. Howard was jailed with no bail set.
—Nicholas P. Fonseca, 30, of Amanda Lane in Patterson, was arrested at 11:55 p.m. Sunday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. During booking at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center, a correctional officer located the active warrant for Fonseca. No bail is set.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrests:
—Bernadette Acosta, 62, of Parro Lane in Berwick, was arrested at 12:21 a.m. Monday on the charges of DWI second offense and improper lane usage. Acosta posted $5,250 bail.
—Vinny Verret, 29, of Third Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:28 a.m. Monday on the charges of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and license plate light required. Verret was awaiting bail to be set.
—Jacob Geisler, 24, of Andras Street in Bayou L’Ourse, was arrested at 8:45 p.m. Saturday on the charge of possession of marijuana. Geisler posted $2,000 bail.
—Brett Bergeron, 28, of Andras Street in Bayou L’Ourse, was arrested at 2 a.m. Sunday on warrants charging him with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bergeron posted $3,500 bail.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrests:
—Cody Pearce, 28, of Rose Street in Berwick, was arrested at 3:48 p.m. Friday on a warrant charging him with two counts of domestic abuse battery. Pearce posted $5,000 bail.
—Philip Harris Jr., 50, of L Street in Patterson, was arrested at 5:39 p.m. Friday on the charge of disturbing the peace by fighting. Harris posted a $323 city fine.
—Jonathan Perry, 32, of N Street in Patterson, was arrested at 5:41 p.m. Friday on the charge of disturbing the peace. Perry was jailed on $323 bail.
