Two booked on drug charges after chase

Two men were arrested Wednesday on drug charges after one suspect fled on foot from Morgan City police when authorities attempted to stop a vehicle on La. 182, Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.
—Javien J. Francis, 29, of Oregon Street in Berwick, was arrested at 10:32 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of possession of alprazolam, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting an officer and on warrants charging him with probation violation, contempt of court and failure to appear for possession of marijuana.
—Carlven Chapman, 40, of Louisiana Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of possession of marijuana, no tail lights and flight from an officer.
A patrolling officer observed a vehicle traveling on La. 182 near 11th Street without any tail lights. The officer attempted to conducted a traffic stop, but the vehicle failed to pull over. The officer chased the vehicle for several city blocks before the vehicle stopped in front of a home on Ditch Avenue. The passenger, Francis, exited and fled on foot.
Assisting officers chased Francis on foot and caught him moments later. Police searched Francis and located suspected alprazolam and drug paraphernalia on him.
A warrants check also revealed that Francis had several active arrest warrants for city court. The driver of the vehicle, Chapman, was also arrested. Police searched the vehicle and located suspected marijuana. Both Chapman and Francis were jailed.
Blair reported the following arrests:
—Dasny C. Bardales, 18, of Degravelle Road in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:39 p.m. Wednesday on the charge of disturbing the peace by fighting.
—Siria Martinez-Gutierrez, 17, of Bush Street in Morgan City, was arrested on 1:49 p.m. on the charge of disturbing the peace by fighting.
An officer responded to an educational facility on Hickory Street in regard to a reported fight. The officer arrived and spoke with management who told officer that Bardales and Martinez-Gutierrez were involved in a physical altercation while on the facility.
During an investigation, the officer found evidence of the alleged altercation. Both Baradales and Martinez-Gutierrez were jailed.
—Gregory Johnson Jr. 32, of Robin Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:16 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of driving under suspension.
Officers located Johnson on Federal Avenue where he was arrested on a city court warrant. Johnson was jailed.
—Jody R. Cubbedge, 58, of Seventh Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:11 p.m. Wednesday on warrants charging him with DWI second offense, counterfeit motor vehicle inspection sticker, switched license plate and open container of alcohol.
Officers located Cubbedge at a home on Third Street and arrested him on several Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office warrants. Cubbedge was jailed.
—Markell Davis, 18, of Hickory Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:02 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of improper turning, no driver’s license and possession of marijuana.
—Malcomb Williams III, 17, of Broussard Street in Patterson, was arrested at 10:02 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of possession of marijuana.
Narcotics investigators observed a vehicle make an improper turn at the intersection of Sixth and Marguerite streets and conducted a traffic stop. The occupants of the vehicle identified as the driver, Davis, and Williams, passenger.
Davis did not have a valid driver’s license.
Davis’ and Williams’ behavior made police suspicious that they may be involved in illegal drug activity. Police searched the vehicle and located suspected marijuana. Both Davis and Williams were jailed.
—Patrick L. Augman, 43, of Spurgeon Road in Monroe, was arrested at 2:48 a.m. Thursday on the charges of improper use of bright lights and driving under suspension.
A patrolling officer observed a vehicle on La. 182 traveling with the bright lights activated into oncoming traffic and stopped the vehicle. The driver, Augman, had a suspended driver’s license. Augman was jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 52 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Blayde D. Viator, 17, of Watson Street in Patterson, was arrested at 8:14 a.m. Wednesday on the charge of simple battery.
A deputy responded to a report of a fight at Patterson High School. While speaking with the subjects involved, the deputy found evidence that Viator grabbed a male victim and struck him. Viator was jailed with bail set at $2,500.
—John P. Dehart Jr., 33, of 79 Pines Lane in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 5:22 p.m. Wednesday on two warrants for failure to appear on the charges of criminal neglect of family.
A correctional officer transported Dehart from the Terrebonne Parish jail to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on the warrant. Bail is set at $11,801.32.
—Kristyn N. Crochet, 25, of Jeremy Drive in Patterson, was arrested at 5:23 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of possession of Schedule I drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A correctional officer transported Crochet from the Assumption Parish jail to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on the warrant. Crochet was released on $1,500 bail.
—Telvin Shepherd, 24, of Maple Street in Lafayette, was arrested at 8:45 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of theft of goods. A deputy with the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office transported Shepherd to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking on the warrant. Bail is set at $5,000.
—Kenedrick Weber, 32, of Canary Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:39 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, two counts of possession of Robaxin without a prescription, possession of trazadone without a prescription, possession of Seroquel without a prescription and possession of Flexeril without a prescription.
A deputy responding to a report of a suspicious person on Saturn Road in Bayou Vista located Weber walking on Saturn Road near Venus Road. While speaking with Weber, the deputy received consent to conduct a pat down and located a pill bottle and syringe in Weber’s pocket.
The pill bottle contained various types of pills. Weber was unable to provide a prescription for the drugs. Weber was jailed with no bail set.
—Brennan Giandelone, 17, of Tiffany Street in Patterson, was arrested at 2:27 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for obstruction of justice.
The warrant stems from an investigation conducted Feb. 13 at the intersection of Jupiter Street and La. 182 in Bayou Vista. Narcotics detectives observed Giandelone place an object in the bushes. Detectives retrieved a bag containing marijuana and a digital scale. A warrant was issued.
While patrolling the Patterson area, detectives located Giandelone outside of his residence talking with other subjects who were in a vehicle. He was subsequently transported him to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Giandelone was released on $1,000 bail.
—Jacob Adams, 18, of Oliver Wheat Road in Baton Rouge, was arrested at 2:49 p.m. Wednesday on the charge of possession of marijuana.
Narcotics detectives making contact with a suspect wanted on a warrant, smelled the odor of marijuana coming from a vehicle in the parking lot of an apartment complex on Tiffany Street in Patterson. Detectives received consent to search the vehicle and located a small amount of marijuana. Adams was released on a summons to appear in court May 10.
—Jasmine Lindsey, 37, of Shaw Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 4:21 p.m. Wednesday on the charge of possession of synthetic cannabinoids.
—Jonathan Lindsey, 32, of Bayou Black Drive in Gibson, was arrested at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday on the charge of failure to signal and on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of possession of synthetic cannabinoids, operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license, and improper lane usage.
Narcotics detectives patrolling the Morgan City area observed a vehicle fail to signal a lane change on La. 182 and conducted a traffic stop. Detectives made contact with the driver, Jonathan Lindsay, and passenger, Jasmine Lindsey. Detectives located the active warrant for Jonathan Lindsey.
While speaking with Jasmine Lindsey, detectives received consent to search her purse and located 2 synthetic cannabinoid cigarettes. Jonathan Lindsey was jailed with bail set at $2,750. Jasmine Lindsey was released on a summons to appear in court May 10.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrests:
—Blake Smith, 27, of Cherry Street in Patterson, was arrested at 5:59 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling and resisting by flight. No bail is set yet.
—Sidney Boutte, 39, of Mill Road in Patterson, was arrested at 7:40 a.m. Thursday on a warrant charging him with simple battery domestic violence. Boutte was jailed on a pre-set bail.
Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reported the following arrest:
—Tarell Ramon Boulanger, 25, of Andras Street in Bayou L’Ourse, was arrested Tuesday on the charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Deputies stopped Boulanger Tuesday night on La. 662. Deputies interviewed Boulanger, and based on that interview, conducted a search of the suspect’s vehicle.
Agents allegedly seized a significant amount of marijuana as well as drug paraphernalia.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Jose Alberto Perez Sanchez, 28, of Sebby’s Lane in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:54 a.m. Thursday on the charges of improper lane usage and no driver’s license. Sanchez posted $252 bail.
