Berwick wins on the road in five games

The Berwick Lady Panthers picked up a 3-2 (21-25, 20-25, 25-13, 25-19, 15-9) win at South Terrebonne Thursday.
The loss avenged a defeat last week in the Assumption Tournament to the Lady Gators.
Berwick coach Heather Blanchard said her team played well.
“They showed how to find a way and fight for the win,” Blanchard said. “I’m very proud of them with this win.”
As a team, the Lady Panthers had 32 kills, six blocks and 68 digs.
Senior Abigail Askew had 13 kills and five blocks for the Lady Panthers, while senior Hannah Carpenter had two kills, two assists and 21 digs.
Other top contributors for Berwick (6-2) included junior Ashton Morales, two aces, nine kills, one block, nine assists and nine digs; sophomore Sydney Aucoin, three aces, six kills and three digs; senior Rennen DeLatte, one ace and 15 digs; sophomore Mary Jordan Melancon, 13 assists and seven digs; and sophomore Roslyn Gros, 11 digs.
Berwick’s freshmen will hit the court Saturday as the squad participates in St. Amant’s tournament.
The entire team will return to action Tuesday at home against South Lafourche. Junior varsity action is set for 4 p.m. with varsity to follow at 5 p.m. and freshmen at 6 p.m.
Morgan City falls to
St. Martinville
The Morgan City Lady Tigers fell to St. Martinville 3-1 (25-19, 18-25, 23-25, 20-25) in volleyball action on the road Thursday.
Morgan City had team totals of 11 aces, 64 digs and nine blocks in the win.
Senior Jaiveianna Jones led the Lady Tigers with four aces, 14 kills, five blocks, one assist and seven digs.
Other top contributors included freshman Kennedy Hebert, two aces, one kill, one block and 16 digs; junior Dwanna LeBeau, three aces, two kills and 12 digs; senior Brandi Ingram, two aces, two kills and 10 digs; junior Cecily Feliciano, one kill, 10 assists and four digs; junior Karley Guidry, one kill, eight assists and three digs; sophomore Kaitlyn Gros, one kill and six digs; sophomore Paige Loftin, three kills, one block and two digs; and junior Alexandra Thompson, two kills, two blocks and one dig.
In junior varsity action, Morgan City fell 2-0 (17-25, 10-25).
Sophomore Paige Loftin led the Lady Tigers with two aces, four kills and one dig, while sophomore Abby Reynaud had five assists and six digs.
Gros had 11 digs and sophomore Brandi Albarado, five digs, to round out the Lady Tigers’ top contributors.
Morgan City (3-4) will return to action Tuesday when it hosts Delcambre.
CCHS falls to Lutcher
The Central Catholic Lady Eagles fell to Lutcher High School 3-0 (17-25, 18-25, 22-25) on the road Wednesday.
Senior Kaitlyn Gros led the Lady Eagles with 14 assists, five kills, seven digs and an ace, while senior Brittany Longman had nine kills.
Other top contributors included sophomore Hallie Autin, eight digs; and sophomore Rebecca David, two blocks.
Central Catholic was in action Thursday at H.L. Bourgeois’ tournament.
