CCHS is receiving votes in prep poll

Central Catholic continues to receive votes with the release of the Louisiana Sports Writers Association’s latest Class 1A prep football poll.
The Eagles (2-3) were the top team outside the top 10 this week with 23 votes, one ahead of Delhi Charter.
Central Catholic defeated Centerville, 49-13, a week ago in District 7-1A action.
The Eagles, 1-1 in district, will continue league play Friday when they travel to New Iberia to face Highland Baptist. Highland Baptist upset Lafayette Christian, 49-48, a week ago in come-from-behind fashion in District 7-1A action.
Lafayette Christian, tied for No. 6 in Class 1A at the time, slipped to No. 10 this week. The Knights received 30 points.
District 7-1A’s other representative receiving state recognition, Ascension Episcopal, is the highest-ranked team in the league. The Blue Gators (5-0) remained ranked No. 3.
Undefeated Hayneville continues to hold the top spot in Class 1A. It has 10 of 11 first-place votes and 131 points.
In Class 3A, District 8-3A continues to be represented in the top 10 by Kaplan (5-0). The Pirates, league opponents of Berwick and Patterson, defeated Patterson, 45-20, last week. Kaplan received 71 points in this week’s poll.
De La Salle remained Class 3A’s top-ranked team with a 5-0 mark, 123 points and seven first-place votes.
In Class 4A, Vandebilt Catholic is the top team outside of the top 10 this week with 23 votes. The Terriers compete in District 7-4A with Morgan City.
Neville remains Class 4A’s top-ranked team with a 4-0 mark, 132 points and all 11 first-place votes.
