CCHS tops Houma Christian for district title

Central Catholic clinched the District 6-V volleyball title Wednesday, topping Houma Christian 3-2 (26-24, 25-20, 23-25, 20-25, 15-12) in Morgan City.
Both teams came into the contest 2-0.
Complete individual statistics were not available for Central Catholic.
On Tuesday, Central Catholic fell at St. John 3-1 (20-25, 25-19, 18-25, 24-26).
Central Catholic had 11 solo blocks.
Hallie Autin led Central Catholic with six kills, 18 digs and two blocks. Other top contributors included Katie Hoffpauir, 20 assists, one ace and six digs; Quincee Wiggins, six kills and 13 digs; Yani Johnson, 10 kills, one dig and six solo blocks; Brooke Lipari, 16 digs; Taylor Picou, two kills, three assists and eight digs; and Emma Aucoin, six digs.
On Monday, Central Catholic defeated Christian Life 3-0 (25-2, 25-17, 25-11).
Central Catholic hit for a 0.516 clip and had 23 aces.
Hoffpauir and Johnson led Central Catholic. Hoffpauir had one kill, 26 assists, nine aces and one dig, while Johnson totaled 18 kills and one solo block. Other top contributors included Wiggins, four kills, three aces and seven digs; Picou, one kill, five assist, three aces and one dig; Aucoin, three aces and three digs; and Bailee Lipari, three aces.
The Lady Eagles concluded their regular season with a 26-11 overall mark and now will await their postseason opponent. The playoff pairings will be announced Oct. 30.
Berwick defeats
Patterson
The Berwick Lady Panthers swept the Patterson Lumberjills 3-0 (25-8, 25-12, 25-9) in nondistrict volleyball action in Berwick Wednesday.
Berwick had 10 aces.

Mary Jordan Melancon and Abbie Dugas led Berwick. Melancon had three kills, 13 assists, two aces and seven digs, while Dugas totaled one kill, 10 assists and 15 digs. Other top contributors included Brittany Roberie, one kill and 14 digs; Morgan Toups, seven kills, five digs and one solo block; Emma Hover, 13 digs; Lauren Skinner, six kills and four digs; Jordan Lipari, one kill, two aces and seven digs; Roslyn Gros, three aces and seven digs; and Sydney Aucoin, eight kills.
No individual Patterson stats were available
On Tuesday, Berwick fell at Vandebilt Catholic, 3-0 (25-10, 25-12, 25-9) in District 8-III play.
Roberie led Berwick with one assist and 16 digs. Other top contributors included Gros, one ace and 15 digs; Melancon, six assist and six digs; Maci Broussard, 10 digs; Dugas, one assist, one ace and seven digs; Lipari, two kills and seven digs; and Aucoin, three kills, one assist and one dig.
Berwick (13-15 overall, 1-5 in district) will return to action today when it hosts Franklin in a 5:30 p.m. contest.
