H.L. Bourgeois tops Central Catholic 67-60

H.L. Bourgeois defeated Central Catholic 67-60 in the Eagles’ home opener Tuesday in Morgan City.
The visiting Braves held the scoring advantage in every quarter, outscoring Central Catholic 15-14 in the opening quarter and 14-13 in the second for a 29-27 halftime advantage.
H.L. Bourgeois led 46-41 after three quarters.
Elijah Swan led four Eagles in double figures with 18 points.
Other scorers included Tanner Wiggins, 12; Demarcus Mitchell and Jalen Johnson, 11 each; and Blake Byrne, eight.
Central Catholic (1-2) will return to action Thursday when it opens play in the Advance Physical Therapy Lumberjack Invitational at Patterson High with a 6:30 p.m. contest against Berwick.
West St. Mary
edges ’Jills
West St. Mary edged Patterson High School, 25-24, in nondistrict action Monday.
Alex Benjamin led Patterson with nine points, while Erykah Singleton had seven.
Other scorers included Nyla Holder and Kem Williams with three each and Makayla Ruiz with two.
Patterson (3-4) will return to action Thursday when it opens District 8-3A play with a 5:30 p.m. contest at North Vermilion.
