'Jacks net individual honors on all-district team

Staff Report

The Patterson Lumberjacks dominated the All-District 9-3A first team and netted individual honors.
Patterson quarterback Sirbatian Charles was named the district’s Offensive Most Valuable Player, while linebacker Malik Bass was the district’s Defensive Most Valuable Player.
First-year coach Chad Blanchard, who led his team to the district crown with a 4-0 mark, shared district coach of the year honors with fellow first-year coach Chris Bergeron of E.D. White.
In all, the Lumberjacks had seven first-team offensive selections. Joining Charles were running back Tristen Ausama, wide receivers Mykel Jones and Daylon Charlot and offensive linemen Malik Garrett, Jayce LeBlanc and Clay Benoit.
Joining Bass on the defensive side of the ball were Earl Johnson and Charlie Kelly on the line, Charlot at defensive back and Nehemiah Augustus at the FLEX position.
Augustus also was the first-team return man.
Berwick had two first-team selections, both on offense, in running back Braden Billiot and Audwin Williams at the athlete position.
On the second team, Patterson representatives included John Davis at running back, Shay Ragas, wide receiver; Taylor Verdin, tight end; offensive linemen Keith Gray and Sean Stewart; and Augustus at the athlete position.
Patterson’s Christian Soria was the second-team kicker.
Berwick’s second-team offensive selections were wide receiver Kenan Jones and offensive lineman Blake Bergeron.
Berwick’s Rogelio Rodriguez also was a second-team selection at kicker.
On the second-team defense, Patterson was represented by Tyric Garret on the line; Blake Dreyer at linebacker; and Ragas and Devontre’ Richard as defensive backs.
Berwick’s Seth Legendre made the team as a defensive lineman.
Berwick had three honorable mention picks, Jeremy Boudreaux, Brodi Mire and Gavin Barrilleaux.
