PATTERSON — The Patterson High School Lumberjacks overcame a slow start for an 11-1 run-rule victory in five innings against Donaldsonville Thursday.
While Patterson scored two runs in the bottom of the third and led just 2-1 heading into the bottom of the fourth, the squad plated six runs in the fourth and three more in the fifth to end the game.
The game just two days after a 17-0 run-rule victory in five innings against the Tigers in which Patterson scored in every inning.
“I was not happy with the way we played through the early innings of the game,” Patterson head coach Ryan Jensen said of Thursday’s contest. “I thought we just went through the motions and expected to breeze through (because) of what happened Tuesday. Thankfully, we got it together in the (fourth) and put the game away in the (fifth).”
Sirbatian Charles remained undefeated at 6-0 with the win on the mound. In an inning, he surrendered a hit and fanned two.
Patterson used four pitchers who combined to surrender an earned run on three hits with three walks and 10 strikeouts.
Jamey Fabre had the longest outing of Patterson’s pitchers, tossing two innings and surrendering a hit and fanning five.
Offensively, Patterson had 10 hits, while Donaldsonville committed five errors.
Taylor Harris finished 2-for-3 with a run for Patterson, while Brennan Gouaux was 2-for-4 with a double, a triple, two RBIs and two runs. Other top contributors included Fabre, 1-for-1, a double and two RBIs; Kenny Singleton, 1-for-3, two RBIs and two runs; Spencer Landry, 1-for-3, an RBI and two runs and Tyrik Singleton, an RBI.
Patterson’s contest against Hicks today has been cancelled and the Lumberjack’s contest against Centerville, originally scheduled for April 26, to Monday.
Patterson (14-6 overall, 2-2 in district) will host a junior varsity tournament beginning at 9 a.m., weather permitting, while its varsity is next scheduled to return to the field Tuesday at E.D. White for a 4 p.m. contest.

Lafayette Christian
Central Catholic scored in every inning in a 10-0 win in five innings against Lafayette Christian Thursday on the road.
Central Catholic scored three runs in the first, two each in the second, third and fourth and plated another in the fifth.
Bryson Barbier earned the win for the Eagles. In five innings, he surrendered two hits, one walk and fanned 10.
Offensively, the Eagles had six hits, while Lafayette Christian committed seven errors
Charlie Barron led the Eagles with a 2-for-3 performance with a double and three RBIs, while Barbier was 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run. Other top contributors were Tyler Hoffpauir, two RBIs, a run and two stolen bases; and Barron Courtney, an RBI, a run and a stolen base.
Central Catholic stranded eight runners on base.
The Eagles (17-2 overall, 5-0 in district) will return to action Tuesday when it hosts Gueydan in a District 7-1A contest set for 4 p.m.
