Lady Tigers defeat Ellender 6-0

The Morgan City Lady Tigers shut out Ellender, 6-0, in District 7-II soccer action.
Four different Lady Tigers netted goals in the win, including a hat trick by Sarah Patterson.
The Lady Tigers started things off quickly with Sarah Patterson netting a goal from a corner kick in the third minute.
One minute later, Patterson connected on a through ball to Paige Comeaux, who scored a goal.
In the 10th minute, Patterson scored again after receiving a pass from Marki Rivere.
Morgan City struck again in the 28th minute as Rivere scored off a Patterson corner kick.
The Lady Tigers (4-4 overall, 1-0-1 in district) added a fifth goal just before halftime as Hannah Toups took on three defenders and scored for a 5-0 lead.
In the second half, Patterson recorded a hat trick as she scored in the 56th minute after taking on two defenders.
Morgan City coach Trevor Patterson said his squad made some formation adjustments and worked on passes and crossing in the second half.
Morgan City boys top Ellender
The Morgan City Tigers picked up its first win in District 7-II soccer action Tuesday at home with a 5-1 victory against Ellender.
Ellender netted the game’s first goal with a score in the first minute.
However, Morgan City came back and tied the game in the fifth minute via what coach Patterson described as a “rocket shot” from beyond the 18-yard box by Brayan Aleman.
Morgan City took the lead for good in the 35th minute with a goal by Irving Delgado for a 2-1 lead.
In the second half, the Tigers (6-4-3, 1-1) scored goals via a diving header by Hector Calderon in the 71st minute, a Delgado goal in the 75th minute and a Lopez score in the 77th minute.
The Morgan City Tigers and Lady Tigers will return to action Thursday when they travel to meet E.D. White in District 7-II play. Girls’ action is set for a 5 p.m. start, and boys’ action will follow at 7 p.m.
