Lumberjills defeat Berwick

The Patterson Lumberjills defeated Berwick, 39-31, in girls high school basketball action in Berwick Friday.
While Patterson led just 27-26 heading into the fourth quarter, the Lumberjills pulled away in the final period, outscoring Berwick 12-5.
The game was tied at 6 after a quarter and Patterson led 17-14 at the half.
Erykah Singleton led three Patterson players in double figures with 12 points.
Alex Benjamin and Kem Williams each scored 10 points in the victory, while Kemiah Watson had four and Nyla Holder, three.
In the loss, Berwick connected on six three-pointers.
Madison Carline led the squad with 17 points.
Other scorers included Jordan Lipari, four; Kaloni James and Mary Jordan Melancon, three apiece; and Sydney Aucoin and Nicole Johnson, two each.
Berwick (1-17 overall, 0-11 in District 8-3A) will return to action today when it travels to face Kaplan in a District 8-3A contest set for a 5:30 p.m. start.
Patterson (9-9, 6-4) will hit the court again Tuesday when it hosts E.D. White in a District 8-3A contest set to begin at approximately 6:15 p.m.
CCHS tops
Highland Baptist
Central Catholic routed Highland Baptist, 61-21, in District 7-1A girls basketball action in New Iberia Friday.
No individual stats were available.
Central Catholic (14-10, 6-6) will return to action today when it travels to face Vermilion Catholic in a district contest set for a 5:30 p.m. start.
Morgan City falls
to Ellender
The Morgan City Lady Tigers fell at Ellender Thursday, 63-39, in District 7-4A girls basketball action.
Laqwaijha Bourgeois led Morgan City with 20 points.
Other scorers included Sh’Diamond Holly, six; Steveyion Walker and Hailey Lewis, four apiece; Nia Lightfoot, three; Twanna LeBeau, two; and Meya Morse, one.
Morgan City (5-14, 1-7) will return to action Tuesday when it hosts South Terrebonne in District 7-4A action.
