MCHS defeats South Lafourche in boys' hoops action

Morgan City defeated South Lafourche, 55-45, in District 7-4A action in Galliano Tuesday.
Morgan City took a 9-8 lead after a period of play, and the game was tied at 18 at halftime. The Tigers took a 32-28 lead against South Lafourche after three quarters and outscored the Tarpons, 23-17, in the fourth period.
Tywaun Walker led Morgan City with 16 points, while Jared Singleton also reached double figures with 10 points. Other Morgan City scorers included Makye Richard, Ke’Sean Francois and K.J. Francois, six points apiece; Devonta Grogan, five; and Deondre Grogan, four.
Morgan City will return to action Friday when it hosts Ellender in a 7:30 p.m. district contest.
Patterson beats Kaplan
The Patterson Lumberjacks bounced back from a nondistrict loss to David Thibodaux Friday with a 59-48 District 8-3A victory at home against Kaplan Tuesday.
The Lumberjacks outscored Kaplan in three of the four quarters as they took a 17-9 lead after a period of play, led 26-13 at halftime and 38-28 after three quarters.
Jordan Butler led four Lumberjacks in double figures with 13 points. Other Patterson scorers included Tyric Garrett, 12; Kai Schexnayder, 11; Elijah Williams, 11; Dajon Richard and Kamiah Jones, four each; and Khyri Harris and John Brooks, two each.
Patterson will return to action Friday when it hosts Berwick in a 7:30 p.m. contest.
CCHS falls to Centerville
Centerville overcame a first-quarter deficit and edged Central Catholic, 65-62, in District 7-1A action in Centerville Tuesday.
Trailing 14-5 after a period of play, Centerville outscored Central Catholic, 15-14, in the second period and 23-15 in the third to cut its deficit to 44-42.
Centerville outscored Central Catholic, 22-19, in the fourth period for the final margin.
Elijah Swan led three Eagles in double figures with 26 points. Other scorers included Samarick Paul, 15 points; Ja’len Johnson, 14; Brooks Thomas, three; and D.J. Lewis and Davidyionne Bias, two each.
Central Catholic (8-10, 4-5) will return to action Friday when it hosts Highland Baptist in a 7 p.m. district contest.
Berwick defeats Erath
The Berwick Panthers defeated Erath, 64-59, in District 8-3A action in Berwick.
No individual Berwick statistics were submitted.
Berwick will return to action Friday when it travels to face Patterson in district play. Varsity boys action is set for a 7:30 p.m. start.
