MCHS to face Vandebilt Catholic Friday

The Morgan City High School Tigers will be looking to upset Vandebilt Catholic on the road in District 7-4A action Friday.
Morgan City enters the contest with a 3-5 mark and is 0-3 in district, while Vandebilt Catholic is 6-2, including a 2-1 record in league play.
While Morgan City fell 49-28 last week to South Terrebonne, the Tigers led 7-0 at one point and trailed just 27-21 at halftime.
However, South Terrebonne outscored Morgan City, 22-7, in the second half to pull away for the win.
Morgan City got a big game from senior Keith Henderson, who hauled in five receptions for 157 yards and two scores. Junior teammate Kalen Hillen had three catches for 73 yards and a score.
Tiger quarterbacks, juniors Isaiah Escort and Alex Brocato, each passed for more than 100 yards. Escort completed 4 of 6 passes for 142 yards with two touchdowns and one interception, while Brocato was 5 of 14 passing for 109 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions
This season, Escort leads Morgan City’s passing game as he has completed 23 of 61 passes for 435 yards with four touchdowns and six interceptions. Brocato has completed 13 of 44 passes for 208 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions.
Hillen leads Morgan City’s receivers with 14 catches for 316 yards and three touchdowns, while Henderson has caught 10 passes for 233 yards and two scores.
In the run game, senior Ethan Scioneaux leads Morgan City with 71 carries for 319 yards and two touchdowns.
Morgan City is averaging 194.9 yards a game and surrendering 244.3 yards a contest.
The Tigers are averaging 18.8 points a contest and surrendering 27.3 points a game.
Meanwhile, Vandebilt Catholic’s five-game win streak was snapped a week ago as Assumption edged it, 27-26, in Napoleonville in league play.
Vandebilt Catholic is averaging 34 points a game and surrendering 20 points a contest.
The Terriers are led by their passing game as quarterback Andrew Robison has thrown for 1,928 yards. He has completed 137 of 221 passes with 19 touchdowns and five interceptions.
Robison has five teammates with at least 250 yards receiving. Roland Johnson leads the team with 24 catches for 427 yards and five touchdowns. Other receivers of note include Brody Fister, 24 catches for 390 yards and two scores; Kane Degruise, 19 catches for 350 yards and six touchdowns; Brennan Rogers, 22 receptions for 345 yards and two scores; and James Parrot, 20 catches for 250 yards and three touchdowns.
Michael LeCompte leads Vandebilt Catholic’s run-game with 77 carries for 546 yards and eight touchdowns. Rogers has 73 carries for 405 yards and four touchdowns, while Robison has carried 31 times for 203 yards and three scores.
Friday’s game will begin at 7 p.m.
