MCHS volleyball team defeats Donaldsonville

Morgan City defeated Donaldsonville in straight sets Tuesday on the road, 25-16, 25-12 and 25-21.
Morgan City recorded eight aces in the District 6-III win.
Senior Jaiveianna Jones led Morgan City with three aces, 14 kills, one block, two assists and 10 digs.
Other top contributors included junior Cecily Feliciano, one ace, one kill, seven assists and seven digs; senior Brandi Ingram, one ace, one kill and 12 digs; freshman Kennedy Hebert, one ace, three kills, one assist and nine digs; junior Karley Guidry, one ace, two kills, nine assists and five digs; and junior Dwanna LeBeau, three kills and five digs.
In junior varsity action, Morgan City won 2-1 (25-21, 17-25, 15-13).
Morgan City had six aces and 45 digs in the contest.
Freshman Hailey Lewis had one ace, six kills and three digs for Morgan City, while sophomore Kaitlyn Gros had two aces, three kills and 10 digs.
Other top contributors included sophomore Abby Reynaud, one kill, three assists and nine digs; freshman Allie Vincent, two kills, seven assists and three digs; sophomore Katelyn Gautreaux, eight digs; sophomore Faith Crappell, two aces and one kill; and sophomore Emily Boudreaux, six digs.
Morgan City (9-13 overall, 2-2 in district) will return to action Tuesday when it travels to face Berwick. Freshmen action is set for a 3:30 p.m. start with junior varsity to follow at 4:30 p.m. and varsity at 5:30 p.m.
CCHS defeats
Houma Christian
Central Catholic opened District 6-V play with a 3-2 (21-25, 25-17, 25-16, 29-25, 15-6) win against Houma Christian on the road Thursday.
Senior Brittany Longman led Central Catholic with 13 kills, 12 digs and three aces, while senior Kaitlyn Gros had 24 assists and 10 digs.
Other top contributors included freshman Quincee Wiggins, 13 kills; sophomore Emma Aucoin, 12 digs; sophomore Hallie Autin, 10 digs; and seventh grader Katie Hoffpauir, two aces.
Central Catholic (10-15, 1-0) will return to action Tuesday when it hosts Covenant Christian in district play. The matchup will feature just varsity, which is set for a 4 p.m. start.
