Mire tosses no-hitter as CCHS routs LCA, 12-0

Thomas Mire tossed a no-hitter and the Central Catholic Eagles run-ruled Lafayette Christian, 12-0, in five innings in Amelia Tuesday.
Mire pitched five innings, and he surrendered one walk and fanned five.
Central Catholic scored four runs in the second, one in the third and seven in the fourth.
Central Catholic had 11 hits led by Drake Angeron’s 3-for-3 performance with two RBIs, a stolen base and two runs.
Other top offensive contributors included Samuel Guarisco, 2-for-2, an RBI, two stolen bases and two runs; Stefano Guarisco, 1-for-2, a triple, an RBI and two runs; Blake Hidalgo, 1-for-3, a double, two RBIs and a run; Mitchell Lemoine, 1-for-3, a double, an RBI and a run; Adam Dupuis, 1-for-3, two RBIs; Thomas Garber, 1-for-1, an RBI; and Gregory Leger, an RBI, a stolen base and two runs.
Central Catholic (12-1), ranked No. 1 in the latest Louisiana High School Athletic Association power rankings, will host Class 4A’s No. 3-ranked squad, St. Michael the Archangel, today in a 5 p.m. contest.
Berwick sweeps doubleheader
Berwick swept a District 8-3A doubleheader at Franklin Tuesday, knocking off the Hornets 11-0 in five innings in game one and 7-2 in game two.
In the first game, Nick Mayon tossed a one-hitter in the win. In five innings, he allowed one walk, one hit batter and fanned one.
Berwick pounded out 15 hits, led by Cody Roberie’s 3-for-3 performance with a double and an RBI.
Other top offensive contributors included Logan Angeron, 3-for-3, an RBI; Ty Duthu, 2-for-3, an RBI; Brandon Fryou, 1-for-1, an RBI; Andrew Askew, 1-for-1, a double; and Tanner Caldwell, Cameron Wiley, Bradley Gray and D.J. Robicheaux, all 1-for-3 with an RBI.
In Berwick’s game 2, Gray tossed a three-hitter in the victory. In seven innings, he surrendered two earned runs on three hits with six strikeouts.
Offensively, Roberie led Berwick with a 2-for-3 performance with three RBIs. Other top contributors included Wiley, 2-for-3, a double, an RBI; Robicheaux, 2-for-3, a double; Kyle Pitre, 1-for-3, a double, an RBI; and Caldwell, 1-for-3, an RBI.
Berwick (7-12, 2-0) will return to action March 29 when it hosts Erath in a 5 p.m. contest. Erath is ranked No. 3 in the latest Louisiana High School Athletic Association power rankings.
Patterson routs Maurepas
The Patterson Lumberjacks routed Maurepas, 12-2, in six innings Tuesday on the road.
Patterson scored all of its runs in three innings with five in the second, four in the fifth and three in the sixth.
Maurepas scored its two runs in the fourth.
Patterson outhit Maurepas, 15-6, led by Bryce Beaubouef’s 3-for-4 performance with two RBIs. Other top contributors included Joel Singleton, 3-for-3, an RBI and three runs; Sirbatian Charles, 3-for-4, two RBIs and three runs; Jamey Fabre, 2-for-5, four RBIs and a run; Brennan Gouaux, 1-for-2, an RBI and two runs; Tyrik Singleton, 1-for-4, an RBI; and Brad Beaubouef, 1-for-5, an RBI.
Tyrik Singleton earned the win. In six innings, he surrendered two unearned runs on six hits with two hit batters and fanned four.
Patterson (7-7) will return to action today when it hosts French Settlement in a 6 p.m. contest.
Morgan City falls to Central Lafourche
Morgan City fell to Central Lafourche, 4-2, in Morgan City Wednesday.
While Morgan City took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first, Central Lafourche responded with two runs in the third and one each in the fourth and seventh innings for the final margin.
Morgan City outhit Central Lafourche, 7-6, but surrendered two unearned runs.
Colby Glatter led Morgan City’s offense with a 3-for-3 performance with an RBI. Other top contributors included Philip Hutchinson, 2-for-3; and Evan Stadalis, 1-for-3, an RBI and a run.
Logan Tingle, the second of three Tiger pitchers used, suffered the loss. In 3.2 innings, he surrendered one earned run on three hits with three walks, one hit batter and three strikeouts. Joseph Doiron started for Morgan City and in 2.1 innings, he surrendered two unearned runs on one hit with four walks, one hit batter and one strikeout.
Morgan City (6-9) will return to action Friday when it hosts Madison Prep in a 1 p.m. contest.
