Morgan City, Patterson win at Lumberjack Invitational

Morgan City and Patterson were winners Thursday during the first round of Patterson’s Lumberjack Invitational.
Morgan City defeated Central Catholic 39-33 in Game 2 of the Lumberjack Invitational Thursday. The Tigers had a 7-6 lead at the end of the first quarter, extending their lead to 21-17 at halftime. Morgan City maintained its lead with a 30-24 at the end of the third quarter. Scorers for the Tigers were Tywuan Walker, 13 points; Lloyd Singleton, nine points; Makye Richard, eight points; Jaylen Jones, five points; and Brady Fryou, four points.
Leading scorers for Central Catholic were Jalen Johnson, 10; Stefano Guarisco, 8; and Charlie Solar, 6.
In Game 3, Patterson beat Carencro 67-51 Thursday. The Lumberjacks jumped out to a 23-11 lead at the end of the first quarter and had a 38-20 lead at halftime. Carencro closed the gap in the third quarter with Patterson still leading 47-35. Scorers for the Lumberjacks were Taylan Grogan, 21; Daylon Charlot, 15; Nehemiah Augustus, 12; Mykel Jones, 8; Kenneth Washington, 5; Malik Garrett, 4; D.J. Jones, 2.
In other action in the Lumberjack Invitational, St. Martinville defeated Thibodaux 71-62 in Game 1 Thursday.
The Lumberjack Invitational continues today with Franklin playing Thibodaux at 5 p.m. Morgan City will play St. Martinville at 6:30 p.m.. Patterson will play Central Catholic at 8 p.m.
