Morgan City routs Patterson 62-22

Morgan City High School defeated Patterson 62-22 in girls’ basketball action in Morgan City Saturday.
Morgan City connected on six three-pointers in the win, four of those by Laqwaijha Bourgeois. Bourgeois led the Lady Tigers with 24 points.
Other top contributors included Alisha Singleton and Hailey Lewis, 10 points apiece; Elicia Dorsey, eight; Meya Morse and Steveyion Walker, six each; and Ke’tasha Williams, Sh’Diamond Holly and India Bennett, each two points.
In the loss, Alex Benjamin led Patterson with eight points.
Other scorers included Kemprielle Williams, seven; Nya Holder, three; and Erykah Singleton and Makayla Ruiz, two points apiece.
Morgan City (1-0) will return to action Dec. 1 when it travels to face West St. Mary, while Patterson (0-2) also will hit the court again Dec. 1 when it travels to take on Centerville.
Patterson opened its season Thursday with a 34-26 loss at Abbeville.
Holder and Ruiz led Patterson with seven points apiece; Singleton and Kemiah Watson, four each; and Benjamin and Williams, two each.
CCHS defeats
West St. Mary
Central Catholic opened its season Thursday with a 31-24 victory at West St. Mary.
Lydia Rivas led the Lady Eagles with nine points and three rebounds, while Hallie Autin contributed nine and Aalayiah Poole, five.
Central Catholic (1-0) will return to action Dec. 1 when it hosts H.L. Bourgeois.
