Swampland League play begins Monday

The annual Swampland summer baseball league season will begin Monday and continue through July 1 with the crowning of the tournament champions.
Local action begins Monday with Taco Bell (Berwick) hosting a team from Houma Christian, while TrimCo Millwork and Supply (Patterson) will host Skipper’s Sporting Goods (Morgan City).
Halimar Shipyard’s (Central Catholic) contest with a team from Covenant Christian will be played Tuesday.
All three games are set for 5 p.m. junior varsity starts with varsity to follow at 7 p.m.
Teams, which will play under sponsorship names, will compete in two divisions.
Locally, Skipper’s Sporting Goods, TrimCo Millwork and Supply, Halimar Shipyard and Taco Bell will compete in Division A. Others in the division include teams from H.L. Bourgeois, Covenant Christian and Houma Christian.
In Division B, teams from E.D. White, Central Lafourche, South Lafourche, Thibodaux, Terrebonne, Ellender and South Terrebonne will compete.
The top three teams from each division will play in a postseason tournament at Berwick High, beginning June 29 and concluding July 1. The top teams in each division will receive a first-round bye.
