Ursuline shuts out MCHS, 6-0

Staff Report

The Morgan City Lady Tigers soccer team's season came to an end Friday as the squad fell to Ursuline Academy, 6-0, in New Orleans.
“The first three goals that they scored was kind of upsetting because we kind of just sat back,” Morgan City coach Trevor Patterson said. “Ursuline, even though they’re No. 10 — no disrespect to them — (they’re) not a powerhouse.”
With Ursuline already up 4-0, Patterson took Hannah Toups out of goal and put her at forward to help generate offense for the team. He replaced her in goal with Hannah Falgout.
Patterson said the game would have been closer if Morgan City had more offensive firepower.
“We were right in front of the goal,” he said. “Totally missed it. So very disappointing for us. (We could have) at least had three goals, and then we started pushing up, and they ended up getting two more.”
Morgan City will say good bye to five seniors: Toups, who has a scholarship offer from Louisiana College; Falgout; Victoria Rice; Cayla Mayon and Abigail Esteban.
“Five great girls, they will definitely be missed,” Patterson said.
Morgan City finishes its season with a 3-17-1 record.
Ursuline, which improved to 11-6-3, will continue postseason play as it will meet No. 7 Episcopal in second-round action.
