Smith-Spicer wed in New Orleans

Olivia Alpha Smith and Paul Warren Spicer were married Dec. 27, 2013, at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church in New Orleans. The Revs. Danny Poche’ and Edward Horkan officiated the 4 p.m. double-ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Dan and Denise Smith of Bayou Vista. The groom is the son of John and Patricia Spicer of Springfield, Va.
Music for the ceremony was by members of the Fine Arts Ensemble from New Orleans.
The bride was escorted in marriage by her father and attended by her sister Madeleine Smith who was maid of honor.
Timothy Spicer was his brother’s best man. Ushers were Andre’ Smith, brother of the bride, and Mark Spicer and Patrick Spicer, brothers of the groom.
A reception followed at the Riverview Room in New Orleans.
Prior to the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at the JW Marriott in New Orleans.
The bride is a 2002 graduate of Berwick High School, and earned a bachelor’s degree in 2006 in marine biology and a master’s degree in 2008 in marine and environmental biology from Nicholls State University in Thibodaux. She is pursuing a PhD in marine biotechnology at the University of Maryland.
The groom is a 2003 graduate of Paul VI Catholic High School in Fairfax, Va., and in 2008 earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from George Mason University. He is a treasury accounting services assistant manager at Marriott International in Bethesda, Md.
The couple resides in Elkridge, Md.
