Elmore-Ratliff reunion celebrates family

Members of the Elmore-Ratliff family gathered June 26 for a Biennial Family Reunion gala at the Patterson Area Civic Center. Family attended from California, Michigan, Illinois, Texas, Georgia and across Louisiana.
The welcome and hospitality team of Barbara Walker and Alice Delahoussaye greeted participants as they arrived in the area. Welcoming family to the gala were reunion coordinator Don Johnson and treasurer Betty Preston. Table decorations were done by coordinator Lesia Smith and her team.
Barbara Walker provided the opening prayer and Valerie Simmons served as “paparazzi” for the red carpet runway for the family “celebrities.”
Recognized as the oldest patriarch was Paul L. Wilson Sr. of Morgan City, 90, and oldest matriarch was Emily Augman of Alexandria, 89.
The reunion also included a talent show; special presentations for young achievers and elders 70 and over; a special personalized canvas tree presentation to lead coordinator Sheena Coleman; and dancing.
On June 27, the day’s activities included a trip to the Louisiana State Museum — Patterson coordinated by Venus Hicks.
The reunion concluded on June 28 with a family worship service at the Patterson Area Civic Center. Connie Veal, Doretha Henry, Angela Roy and Pat Freel lead with praise and worship, Steve Allen Veal with scripture, and William Augman Jr. presented the sermon. Don and Sheena Coleman were worship leaders.
