Birthday and anniversary celebrants were recognized during the Nov. 2 St. Mary AARP meeting.

Fabre named AARP Citizen of the Year

Hubert “Jerry” Fabre of Belle River was named the St. Mary AARP Citizen of the Year during the St. Mary Parish AARP monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 2 at the St. Mary Senior Citizens Center, home of St. Mary AARP. Joining Fabre for the honor was his family.
Co-sponsors of the meeting’s meal were Hargrave Funeral Home and Attorney Paul Landry. Other sponsors included M C Bank, birthday cake; Urgent Care of Morgan City and MidSouth Bank, coffee; and Whitney Bank, napkins.
January 2016 will mark the beginning of a new St. Mary AARP membership period. St. Mary AARP encourages new and current members to sign up for the 2016-17 membership.
St. Mary AARP has four major trips planned for 2016 including Nashville in April, Mackinac Island in August, Pigeon Forge in October and Branson in November.
