Local artist receives awards

FRIEDA MELANCON of Centerville, pictured above, recently won first place and the sweepstakes award in the Adult Oil Painting Division during the Sugar Cane Festival Art Exhibit in New Iberia. She also received honorable mention for her pen and ink drawing in the Black and White Division of the art exhibit.
