A Patterson man was jailed Friday after he tried to hit a woman who was holding a baby during an argument, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Jermaine Small, 34, of the 200 block of Easy Street in Patterson, was arrested at 1:18 p.m. Friday for simple assault, disturbing the peace, aggravated criminal damage to property and child endangerment. Deputies responded to a disturbance between a man and woman and met with Small who was yelling obscenities.
The deputy learned that Small had gotten into an argument with the female living at the house. He was making threats of cutting her and damaged the doors in the house and cutting the wallpaper with a knife, Hebert said. While she was holding her baby he tried to hit her, the sheriff said. Small was jailed with no bail set yet.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 113 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Christopher Absher, 29, of the 100 block of Sydney Jo Lane in Berwick, was arrested at 11:34 a.m. Friday for simple battery.
—Cara Absher, 17, of the 200 block of Southwest Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 11:34 a.m. Friday for simple battery.
Deputies were dispatched to Southwest Road in Bayou Vista in reference to a disturbance. The deputy learned that the two suspects had committed a battery on each other. They were both jailed with bail set at $500.
—Ricky Comeaux Jr., 30, of the 400 block of Cotten Road in Patterson, was arrested at 9:43 a.m. Friday on a warrant for failure to appear in court. Comeaux was jailed with bail set at $3,000.
—Christopher Oubre, 19, of the 100 block of La. 182 in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:33 a.m. Saturday for running a stop sign and possession of marijuana. He was released on a summons to appear in court Sept 3.
—David Bergeron, 35, of the 400 block of Tiffany Street in Patterson, was arrested at 6:14 p.m. Saturday for disturbing the peace intoxicated and misrepresentation during booking. A deputy was dispatched to a motel on U.S. 90 in Bayou Vista in reference to a suspect going to the lobby and cursing at the front desk attendant and causing a disturbance. Bergeron was jailed with no bail set yet.
—Michael Stover, 40, of the 2200 block of Jefferson Avenue in Pascagoula, Miss., was arrested at 7:03 p.m. Saturday for theft of goods from a business on U.S. 90 in Bayou Vista. Stover had tried to steal two televisions from the store and was caught in the parking lot. He was jailed with no bail set yet.
—Angela Weber, 46, of the 100 block of Mercury Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 1:57 p.m. Sunday for disturbing the peace and resisting an officer. Deputies were dispatched to Venus Road in Bayou Vista in reference to the suspect being in the roadway in an intoxicated condition causing a disturbance. Weber tried to flee from a deputy, Hebert said. She was jailed with bail set at $1,500.
—Charles White, 24, of the 100 block of Three B’s Lane in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 9:30 p.m. Sunday for domestic abuse battery. Deputies were dispatched to Three B’s Lane in reference to a disturbance between White and the victim. A deputy spoke with the victim and learned that White had hit and pushed down the victim, Hebert said. White was jailed with no bail set yet.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrests:
—Benjamin J. Blackman, 24, of the 500 block of Roderick Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:32 a.m. Saturday for driving while intoxicated first offense, open container, speeding 38 mph in a 25 mph zone, expired driver’s license and no proof of insurance. Blackman was jailed with no bail set yet.
—William W. Burgess Jr., 32, of the 100 block of Shannon Street in Patterson, was arrested at 1:08 a.m. Sunday for possession of stolen things more than $2,900. Burgess was jailed with no bail set yet.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrests:
—Alvin Willoughby, 70, of the 4200 block of Francis Street in Berwick, was arrested at 10:07 a.m. Friday on warrants for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, driving left of center with a crash and open container. Willoughby was released on bail.
—Tereza Foster, 47, no address given, was arrested at 3:09 p.m. Friday for theft by shoplifting. Foster was released on bail.
