Baldwin Mardi Gras ball, parade slated

Baldwin Mardi Gras Association has announced the “Krewe of Donnis” ball and parade with the theme “Mardi Gras At Its Finest.”
The krewe will begin festivities with a ball to introduce the Grand Marshal and the King and Queen on Friday, Feb. 24, at the Baldwin Community Center at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15.
The parade lines up at 11:30 a.m. on Main Street near UMCOR. The route is about 1½ miles down Main Street to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
This year’s Grand Marshal is Almetra Franklin, CEO of St. Mary CAA and Head Start. The King and Queen are Mr. and Mrs. Marquall Dixon of MK Dixon Funeral Home.
The deadline for parade entries is Saturday, Feb. 18 at 6 p.m. and may be forms obtained from committee members. Entries must include a copy of a driver’s license and proof of insurance. Floats and flatbeds are $40; cars and trucks are $30; motorbikes and four-wheelers are $15; organizations and walkers are $20; dance teams with trucks or trailers $60, and a dance team with car, $50.
