Techeland Arts slates fall fundraiser

Techeland Arts Council will be hosting its annual Fall Fundraiser on Nov. 2 at the Patterson Area Civic Center.
The evening will begin with a cash bar at 6 p.m. at which time guests may bid on a variety of silent auction items.
A special musical event will occur intermittently during cocktails and dinner, to be followed by a short live performance.
This year the vignettes will focus on the “Saints of St. Mary,” those people who through the years have given so much of their time and talent to the parish.
The names of these former citizens will be revealed in the next few weeks.
A live auction featuring trips, activities and one-of-a kind items will follow dinner. Attire is dressy casual.
Sponsored tables that seat eight are available for a donation of $500. Individual tickets are $62.50. Checks are to be made payable to Techeland Arts Council, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, and mailed to 308 Adams St., Franklin, La. 70538.
All sponsorships must be received by Oct. 26 and table locations will be assigned on a first come first served basis.
“Please come join us for a fun evening and learn about some endearing moments in the lives of some very special citizens who lived in our parish,” Chairman Judith Allain said.
Techeland Arts Council is an organization made up of local volunteers representing a cross-section of St. Mary Parish. The organization was founded to gather the stories of people in the local community and record them for future generations. Allain says these stories are then brought to the live stage as part of the No Hitchin’ series, adding economic and cultural development for the parish.
TAC has had two successful and well-received performances, “What a Ride!” in 2012 and “Bayou Storm Rising” in 2013, and is currently working on a third show to be presented at the end of April 2014.
