Patterson resident faces sex crime charge

A 40-year-old Patterson man was arrested Tuesday after detectives discovered evidence he had sexual intercourse with a minor, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.

—Christopher Singleton Sr., 40, of the 300 block of Veterans Boulevard in Patterson, was arrested at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for four counts of felony molestation of a juvenile.

A detective with the Criminal Investigation Division began a joint investigation with detectives from the Morgan City Police Department into a complaint of molestation on April 25.

Forensic interviews were conducted at Hearts of Hope Children’s Advocacy Center, where the detective found evidence that Singleton engaged in sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old female victim multiple times.

The sexual abuse occurred at four different locations in the Morgan City and Patterson areas. The detective obtained a warrant for Singleton’s arrest for the crimes.

Deputies and officers with the Morgan City Police Department located Singleton at a business on Front Street in Morgan City. Singleton was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

Hebert reported responding to 34 complaints and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:

—Clarence Woods, 21, of Williams Street in Patterson, at 5:02 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of criminal damage to property.

Woods turned himself in at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center in Centerville. No bail is set.

—Shane W. Buckley, 38, of Youngs Road in Morgan City, at 5:22 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to comply with the terms and conditions of drug court.

A correctional officer transported Buckley from the Plaquemines Parish Jail to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on the warrant. Bail is set at $100,000.

—Amanda R. Lake, 34, of Cypress Lane in Patterson, was arrested at 3:59 a.m. today for disturbing the peace and resisting an officer. A deputy responded to a disturbance at a residence in Patterson.

The deputy made contact with Lake and smelled the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on her person.

During the investigation, Lake repeatedly yelled obscenities at another female in the presence of small children despite repeatedly being asked by the deputy to stop.

During Lake’s arrest, she attempted to free herself several times by pulling away from the deputy. Lake was transported to the parish jail for booking. Bail is set at $1,250.

Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrests:

—Myles Morgan, 28, of Front Street in Morgan City, at 6:21 a.m. Tuesday on a charge of theft by shoplifting.

An officer responded to a local convenience store on Federal Avenue in regards to a call of a shoplifter.

The officer arrived and spoke with the manager who told the officer that Morgan came into the store, took an alcoholic beverage from the cooler, walked outside and began consuming the beverage without payment.

The officer observed that Morgan was still in the store parking lot and inquired about the incident. Reports indicate that Morgan told the officer that he did take the beverage without paying.

Morgan was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated .

—Dondre J. Parker, 19, of Levee Road in Morgan City, at 8:42 a.m. Tuesday on the charge of probation violation.

Parker was arrested in the Morgan City Court regarding an active arrest warrant held by the 6th Ward Morgan City Court. He was booked into the Morgan City Jail and incarcerated.

—Caffery J. Williams, 50, of Garber Street in Morgan City, at 4 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to appear Dec. 1, 2015, for driving while intoxicated.

Williams was arrested in the Morgan City Court regarding an active arrest warrant held by the 6th Ward Morgan City Court. Williams was booked into the Morgan City Jail and incarcerated.

—Michael Martin, 32, of Teche Road in Bayou Vista, at 9:16 p.m. Tuesday on the charge of theft.

Officers responded to a local recreational establishment on La. 182 regarding theft of a purse. The officers arrived and spoke with the victim and several witnesses to the incident.

The officers were told that a subject later identified as Martin was observed taking the victim’s purse from a table inside the establishment. Martin then exited the building and began fleeing on foot when Martin was chased by one of the witnesses .

During the chase, Martin dropped the purse and fled the area, at which time the purse was returned to the victim. A description of Martin was provided to officers and he was located moments later.

Martin was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated .

—Angel M. Duhon, 26, of Burkette Street in Milton, at 11:46 p.m. Tuesday on the charge of driving under suspension.

An officer responded to a call of a suspicious vehicle following the caller on La. 182 near Myrtle Street. A description of the vehicle was provided and it was located by the officer moments later.

A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was identified as Duhon. A driver’s license check revealed that Duhon had a suspended license.

Duhon was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Jail where Duhon was booked and incarcerated .

Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrest:

—Roselyn Collins, 23, of Live Oak Street in Patterson, at 3:33 p.m. Tuesday on the charge of unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling. Collins remains jailed. No bail is set at this time.

Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
