CHARLES PRESTON MCDONALD

Funeral services for Charles Preston McDonald were held today, Monday, Aug. 3, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Ibert’s Mortuary in Franklin. Burial followed in the Franklin Cemetery Mausoleum. The Rev. Lloyd Benoit officiated the services.
A gathering of family and friends was held Sunday, Aug. 2, 2015, at Ibert’s from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., with the rosary being prayed at 5 p.m., led by Father Benoit. Visiting hours resumed today, Monday, Aug. 3, 2015, at Ibert’s at 9 a.m. and continued until time of service.
Charles was born on Sept. 18, 1942, in San Antonio, Texas, to the late Preston McDonald and the late Maria Gagliano McDonald. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. Charles was also a man who loved his family above all. Those that knew him knew that he also loved his wife’s cooking. He passed away at the age of 72 on Thursday, July 30, 2015, in New Iberia at Iberia Extended Care Hospital following a long and hard battle with cancer and heart disease. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Mayola “May” Fryou McDonald; two sons, David Charles McDonald, and Preston Charles McDonald and his wife, Jessica; two granddaughters, Kristi Boudreaux and Macy McDonald; one great-granddaughter, Jolie Boudreaux; one brother, Michael J. McDonald and his wife, Julie; one sister-in-law, Pam McDonald; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert “Coach Mac” McDonald.
