R. G. “Bud” Williamson

R. G. “Bud” Williamson, 79, a native Sour Lake, Texas, longtime resident of Morgan City, La., and most recently Youngsville, La., where he resided with his daughter for the past three years, passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2014.
Bud is survived by his daughter, Tracie Williamson Begnaud, her husband, Timothy, and their daughter, Mia Begnaud, all of Youngsville, La.; three sons, Richard G. Williamson, Jr., and his wife, Michelle, and their children, Matthew, Jacob, and Clay, of Nederland, Tex.; John Williamson and his wife, Treva, and their children Courtney, Jacie, and Colter, of Round Rock, Tex.; and David Williamson and his children Destiny, Jon Michael and Justin, of Nederland, Tex.; his brother, J. Patrick Williamson and his wife, Connie, of Lafayette. La.; and, his sister, Mary Louise “Sunny” Williamson of Morgan City, La. He joins in heaven his wife, Margaret Ann Laird Williamson, his father, Alma Boston Williamson, Sr., his mother, Mary Ivy Guillory Williamson, his son, James Michael Williamson, and his brother, Alma Boston Williamson, Jr.
Bud was an active and sincerely concerned member of his community, forging many lifelong friendships and professional relationships that guided and influenced his many passions and pursuits.
As a long-time resident of south Louisiana, and even though his immediate family resided in his home state of Texas for a large portion of his life, Bud was able to embrace the Southern Louisiana lifestyle by developing lifelong relationships with both business and personal contacts that became like family to him. He considered himself fortunate to be afforded this unique opportunity. Throughout his life, Bud became involved in many civic and professional organizations, committing fully and to the best of his ability and resources with each organization with which he became associated. He felt as if it were his privilege and honor to serve his community and industry in every way he was able and was extremely well respected because of his intelligence and incredible ability to lead, guide, and learn with unpretentious humility. Bud used his strong sense of family and faith as guiding values to influence his role in all of his undertakings.
Due to his diligence and hard work, Bud had many accolades to his name. His accomplishments included becoming a board member and former vice president of Oil and Gas Rental Services, an original officer of Ralow Services, and later, president and owner of Downhole Specialty Rental Services, as well as, Petroleum Specialty Rental Services. Bud’s service to the community and oilfield industry included reigning as King of the Shrimp and Petroleum Festival, a member of the Shrimp and Petroleum Festival Kings Club, past president and board member of Petroleum Club of Morgan City, former president and board member of SMIG (St. Mary Industrial Group), former president and board member of the local API Chapter (American Petroleum Institute), and an active board member of Youngs Memorial Vocational and Technical School, to name but a few of his most prominent associations.
The family requests that visitation be observed Sunday, January 12, 2014, from 5pm to 8pm at Hargrave Funeral Home in Morgan City. Visitation will resume on Monday, January 13, 2014, at 9am. Funeral services will be held at 11am at Hargrave Funeral Home with Msgr. Richard R. Greene officiating. Bud will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Mausoleum.
