ROY PIERRE GROS

September 7, 1940-January 16, 2016
Loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, Roy Pierre Gros was called to his heavenly home on Jan. 16, 2016, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center, in Lafayette, after living 75 wonderful, beautiful, love-filled years. An avid fisherman and hunter, Roy enjoyed spending time among nature and sharing lasting memories with his family. He was retired from the St. Martin Parish School Board.
Born in Napoleonville and a proud resident of 4Mile Bayou, Roy leaves to cherish his many memories, his devoted and loving wife of 51 years, Sandra Pace Gros; three children, son, Leroy Gros and his wife, Wanda Rivere Gros, of 4Mile Bayou, daughter, Gina Gros Verrett and her husband, Melvin Verrett Jr., of Lafayette, and son, Ben Gros and his wife, Tracey Fabre Gros, of 4Mile Bayou; and his precious dog, Jake!
Roy is also survived by one brother, Thomas, and his wife, Barbara Gros; and two sisters, Emily Gros Metrejean and Azilie Gros Aucoin and her husband, John Aucoin; nine grandchildren, Mark & Desiree Venturella Gros of 4Mile Bayou, Krystal Henry Verret and Jordan Verret of San Antonio , Texas, Lee Gros of 4 Mile Bayou, Ernie Henry Jr. of Lafayette, Wendy Gros of 4Mile Bayou, Dustin Verrett of Lafayette, Gracie Gros of 4Mile Bayou, Brandon and Kelly Nolan Verrett of Denham Springs, and Brandy Verrett of Denham Springs; eight great-grandchildren, Lainey Gros, Carson Gros, Kai Verret, Rylee Belle Verret Brantlee Roy Gros, Ashton Verrett, Cain Terry, and Alex Verrett; and numerous nieces; nephews; family; and friends.
Roy has been reunited in heaven with his parents, Shelby Gros Sr. and Eva Para; four brothers, Henry Gros Sr., Clarence Gros Sr., Shelby Gros Jr., and Alcide Gros; one sister, Grace Gros Cook; and numerous nieces; nephews; family and friends.
A time of visitation and remembrance will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 19, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., with visitation continuing on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2016, at 9 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. at Hargrave Funeral Home. Roy will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery.
