Berwick falls to E.D. White in four games

Morgan City was the lone local victor in volleyball action Monday. Central Catholic and Berwick took losses.
BHS wins one of four
against E.D. White
Berwick High School’s Lady Panthers dropped a varsity district contest to E.D. White 3-1 (15-25, 8-25, 25-22, 18-25) in volleyball action Monday in Berwick.
Ashton Morales led the home team with 11 kills, six blocks, two assists and 15 digs.
Other top contributors for Berwick included Emma Hover, two aces and seven digs; Brittany Roberie, two aces and 16 digs; Sydney Aucoin, five kills and one block; and Alyssa Gray, two kills, one block and one dig. Also assisting were Rosalyn Gros, 12 digs; Madeleine Hover, one kill, five assists and six digs; Jordan Lipari, one kill and five digs; Mary Jordan Melancon, one kill, one block, eight assists and seven digs; and Madalyn Gros, one kill.
Junior varsity action saw E.D. White defeat Berwick 2-0 (12-25, 17-25).
Lady Panthers contributing in the effort were Maci Broussard, 11 digs; Abbie Dugas, one ace, three assists and two digs; Hannah Henry, three assists and six digs; Megan Lipari and Isabella Lodrigue, two digs each; Natalie Mayon, one dig; Lauren Skinner, two kills and one dig; Mary Grace Theriot, one ace and three digs; Morgan Toups, one kill and one dig; and Macy Wiggins, seven kills, one block and two digs.
Berwick’s scrappy freshman team lost 2-0 (23-25, 28-25) to E.D. White.
In the effort, Berwick’s Broussard had three aces and 12 digs; Dugas, four assists and one dig; Gray, two aces, one kill, two assists and six digs; Megan Lipari, one kill and two digs; Lodrigue, 12 digs; Mayon, one dig; Emily Roy, one kill and two digs; Abby Sanford, one dig; Skinner, four aces, two kills and three digs; and Toups, three kills.
MCHS eases
past Franklin
The Morgan City High School Lady Tigers eased past Franklin 3-0 (25-6, 25-3, 25-6) in district volleyball action in Morgan City Monday.
Morgan City had 25 aces in the win.
Kennedy Hebert led the squad with three aces, six kills, one block, one assist and five digs.
Other top contributors included Allie Vincent, seven aces, six assists and one dig; Brandi Albarado, seven aces and seven digs; Dwanna LeBeau, five aces, two kills and seven digs; Abby Reynaud, two aces, seven assists and six digs; Cecily Feliciano, one ace, two kills and six digs; and Katelyn Gautreaux, eight digs.
In junior varsity action, Morgan City defeated Franklin 2-0 (25-5, 25-5).
Morgan City had 29 aces in the win, 23 of those by McKenzi Smith. Smith also added a kill and three digs. With all her serving, Smith did not commit one service error.
Other top contributors included Allie Vincent, two aces, four assists and two digs; Reynaud, three aces, two assists and one dig; and Sh’Diamond Holly, one ace, two kills and one dig.
On Saturday, Morgan City finished 2-2 at Assumption’s junior varsity tournament.
Morgan City defeated St. Thomas and Central Lafourche but fell to Assumption and South Terrebonne.
Against Assumption, Morgan City fell 2-0 (25-15, 25-17).
Vincent had one kill, three assists and two digs, while Hannah Gros had three aces and four digs.
Other top contributors included Smith with two kills and four digs; Reynaud, three assists and two digs; Faith Crappell, seven digs; Twanna LeBeau, one ace, one kill and one block; and Holly, two kills.
Against St. Thomas, Morgan City was victorious 2-0 (25-6, 25-14).
Morgan City had 17 aces in the win.
Reynaud led Morgan City with six aces, one kill, eight assists and four digs.
Other top contributors included Smith, four aces, three kills, one block and eight digs; Hailey Lewis, three aces, one kill and three digs; and Crappell, three kills and four digs.
Against Central Lafourche, Morgan City was victorious 2-0 (25-7, 25-11).
Morgan City had seven aces in the win.
Reynaud led Morgan City with three kills, six assists and seven digs, while Smith had five kills and six digs.

Against South Terrebonne, Morgan City fell 2-0 (25-15, 25-23).
Smith led Morgan City with one ace, three kills, one assist and 15 digs, while Blanchard had 11 digs.

Central Catholic falls
in five games
Central Catholic fell to East Ascension 3-2 (25-22, 16-25, 13-25, 25-20, 11-15).
Hallie Autin led the Lady Eagles with 17 kills, 14 digs and two aces, while Quincee Wiggins had 10 kills and a season-high 20 digs.
Other top contributors included Emma Aucoin, 12 digs and three aces; Taylor Picou, 18 assists and five digs; Emma Aucoin, 12 digs and three aces; Lindsee Case, three kills and nine digs; and Katie Hoffpauir, seven assists and two aces.
