MCHS upsets
Vandebilt Catholic
According to the Louisiana High School Athletic Association’s Class 4A unofficial power rankings, Thursday’s contest between Morgan City and Vandebilt Catholic should have favored Morgan City, who was seeded No. 13, while Vandebilt Catholic was the No. 24 seed.
However, the Lady Tigers’ had a long track record with Vandebilt Catholic that said otherwise.

"Such a great game to be a part of," Morgan City coach Tamara Keller said. "So proud of all the girls. From top to bottom, they showed up for this game with the mindset that they could win. I think that was the difference. We preached all week in practice that if they could just play to their potential for (seven) complete innings, this was a game we could win."
Morgan City jumped on top quickly, taking a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning.
Vandebilt Catholic cut its deficit with single runs in the bottom of the first and third innings, but Morgan City countered with another run in the top of the sixth.

"I wanted this game so bad for my seniors," Keller said. "They have worked hard, and no one deserves the victory more than they do. Such a great victory for Morgan City softball."
