Morgan City routs Franklin, 77-51

Morgan City cruised past Franklin, 77-51, in first-day action at Centerville’s Tournament of the Teche Thursday.
The Tigers, who outscored Franklin in every quarter, had three players in double figures led by Taaj Daniels. Daniels scored 26 points, while Jared Singleton added 12 and Deondre Grogan, 10. Other scorers for Morgan City included Makye Richard and Kerwin Francois, eight points apiece; Morrquise Charles, seven; and Ke’Sean Francois, six.
Morgan City (5-1) will return to action today at 4:30 p.m. at the tournament when it faces E.D. White. Saturday, Morgan City will play Jeanerette at 3 p.m.
Berwick splits
Thursday’s contests
Berwick High School split its contests Thursday at the Terrebonne General Medical Center Terrebonne Tiger Classic, as the Panthers topped Grace King, 50-40, in their opener before falling to host Terrebonne, 77-44, later in the evening.
In the Terrebonne contest, Berwick’s Larenz Clark, Travis Whitehead and Donald Tillman all scored 10 points.
Terrebonne outscored Berwick in every quarter. The Tigers led 24-16 after a period of play, 50-24 at halftime and 70-38 after three quarters.
The loss was the first for the Panthers (5-1) this season
No individual stats were submitted from the Grace King contest.
The Panthers will resume play today at the tournament when it faces South Lafourche in a 3:30 p.m. contest before closing out the tournament Saturday against Helen Cox at 4 p.m.
Patterson falls at
Brusly’s tourney
The Patterson High School Lumberjacks fell to St. Michael the Archangel, 63-49, at Brusly’s tournament Thursday.
No individual stats were available.
Patterson’s record now stands at 1-1 this season.
