Swiftships holds its first golf tournament

Swiftships shipbuilders of Morgan City held its first golf tournament at LaTour Golf Club on Dec. 13 with 22 operators entered into the tournament.
“The tournament was held by Swiftships in appreciation for the businesses that drive the oil and gas industry and commercial market,” company spokeswoman Morgan Rhoades said in a news release.
She said Swiftships is working on plans to make the tournament an annual tradition with more sponsors and participants.
In addition to participating in the rounds of golf, the vendors and sponsors were able to meet with one another at the luncheon held during the tournament’s awards ceremony.
The tournament was split into three flights where cash prizes were given to the winners of the first three places in each flight.
The first flight winners were Rockin “D” Marine, first place; J. Brady Marine, second place; and Alliance Offshore, third place).
In the second flight the winners were Hornbeck Offshore, first place; Praxair, second place; and M-I SWACO/Schlumberger, third place.
The third flight winners were Caterpillar, first place; Laborde Marine, second place; and Danco Operations, third place.
The LaTour Golf Club is an 18-hole, 72-par semi-private golf course designed by PGA tour champion David Toms. The course is on 597 acres, according to the course’s web site.
