Youth district tournament will begin Thursday in Thibodaux

Staff Report

Multiple District 3 youth baseball tournaments in various age groups will be held beginning Thursday in Thibodaux.
District play will begin in the AAA (ages 9-10), 11-year-old and Majors (11- and 12-year-old) Thursday, while 9-year-old district action will begin Saturday. All games in the double-elimination tournaments will be played at Peltier Park.
The AAA and Major district tournaments will have a smaller field than usual because Morgan City and St. Mary Central received automatic byes in these age groups to the regional tournaments that they will be hosting in mid-July.
Therefore, that leaves Thibodaux, Patterson and Franklin to battle for two spots to advance to these respective tournaments. It also means at least one more St. Mary Parish team will advance in these age groups.
Action in AAA play will begin with a matchup between Franklin and Patterson Thursday at 4 p.m.
On Friday, Patterson will meet Thibodaux in a 4 p.m. contest while on Saturday, Franklin and Thibodaux will play at noon. The championship game is set for Sunday at 11 a.m.
In Majors action, Thibodaux and Franklin will play Thursday at 8 a.m., while Franklin and Patterson will meet Friday at 8 a.m.
On Saturday, Thibodaux will face Patterson at 4 p.m. The championship game is set for Sunday at 3 p.m.
