Eagles rout Gueydan, 75-38

Central Catholic cruised past Gueydan, 75-38, in District 7-1A action in Morgan City Monday.
The Eagles scored the game’s first 27 points and led 27-1 after a quarter. Gueydan didn’t get on the scoreboard until Mo Maxile connected on the first of two free throws with 4.6 seconds remaining in the quarter.
While Gueydan matched Central Catholic with 14 points apiece in the second quarter, they still trailed 41-15 at the half.
Central Catholic extended its lead to 63-28 after three quarters.
More than half of Gueydan’s points came from behind the three-point line as the Bears connected on seven three-pointers.
Tanner Wiggins and Elijah Swan led five Eagles in double figures with 18 points apiece. Other Eagle scorers included Brooks Thomas, 12; Tyler O’Con, 11; Jalen Johnson, 10 points; and Taylor Blanchard, Seth Williams and Blake Byrne, two points apiece.
Central Catholic (11-13 overall, 9-4 in district) will close its regular season Friday when it plays at Ascension Episcopal in a 6 p.m. contest.
