Lusher Charter eliminates Morgan City from volleyball playoffs

Staff Report

Lusher Charter proved to be too much for Morgan City as the Lady Tigers fell 3-0 (25-13, 25-15, 25-17) in Division III first-round playoff action in New Orleans Tuesday.
“I am proud of the way our girls fought,” Morgan City High Coach Christy Theriot said. “They did not give up and left everything on the floor.”
It was a rough afternoon for Morgan City, the No. 20 seed, as Theriot said the team could not run their quicker offensive attacks because of some passing problems, while her outside hitters were stymied.
“They were taller, read the court well and kept the ball in play,” she said of Lusher, the No. 13 seed.
Abby Reynaud led Morgan City with 44 assists, six digs and one block assist. Other top contributors included Sh’diamond Holly, five kills, three assists, one dig and two solo blocks; Brandi Albarado, one assist, one ace and two digs; and Hallie Blanchard, one ace and three digs.
With the loss, Morgan City concludes its season with a 13-25 mark, while Lusher improves to 16-20. Lusher advances to the second round where it will travel to face No. 4 St. Michael the Archangel Thursday.
