MCHS falls to South Terrebonne in five sets

South Terrebonne rallied from a two-game deficit to defeat the Morgan City Lady Tigers, 3-2 (28-26, 25-23, 22-25, 25-13, 13-15) Tuesday in Bourg.
South Terrebonne entered the game ranked No. 6 in Division II in the latest unofficial Louisiana High School Athletic Association volleyball power rankings. Morgan City is No. 28 in Division III.
As a team, Morgan City totaled 45 kills, 14 aces and 11 solo blocks in the loss.
Sh’Diamond Holly led Morgan City with 22 kills and six solo blocks. Other top contributors included Abby Reynaud, two kills, 31 assists, two aces and two digs; Katelyn Gautreaux, one kill, one ace and 11 digs; Karmen Peterson, six kills, five aces and three solo blocks; McKenzi Smith, four kills, four aces and six digs; Paige Loftin, seven kills and one dig; and Twanna LeBeau, three kills, one assist, one dig and two solo blocks.
In junior varsity action, Morgan City fell 2-0 (25-15, 25-11).
Peterson led Morgan City with one kill, three aces, one dig and one solo block. Other top contributors included Nia Lightfoot, one kill, one ace and one solo block; and Hallie Blanchard and Jamia Francois, two kills apiece.
In freshman action, Morgan City fell 2-0 (25-21, 25-17).
Deryon Johnson led the squad with four kills and one solo block. Other top contributors included Francois, four aces and one solo block, and Sarajane Nini, three assists.
Morgan City (1-4) will return to action Thursday when it travels to face St. Martinville.
CCHS sweeps
Central Lafourche
Central Catholic swept Central Lafourche Tuesday in Matthews 3-0 (25-15, 25-15, 25-18).
As a team, Central Catholic had 14 solo blocks.
Hallie Autin led Central Catholic with 12 kills, one ace and 12 digs. Other top contributors included Yani Johnson, five kills and eight solo blocks; Taylor Picou, three kills, nine assists, one ace and six digs; Katie Hoffpauir, one kill, 15 assists, one ace and three digs; Emma Aucoin, one assist and seven digs; Sydney Williams, one kill, one dig and four solo blocks; and Brooke Lipari, eight digs.
Central Catholic (5-2) will return to action today when it travels to face Lutcher.
Also, Central Catholic’s scheduled home game against Assumption now has been made a road contest.
