The Morgan City Lady Tigers will hit the road for Division III first-round playoff action today when they travel to New Orleans to face Lusher Charter in a 5:30 p.m. contest.
Morgan City, the No. 20 seed, enters the contest 13-24 overall. The Lady Tigers finished 4-4 in district play.
Morgan City coach Christy Theriot said the mindset is key for her team heading into the playoffs.
She said her team has to keep a positive mindset because if everybody is positive, they do well, but if one person is down, the team struggles.
Meanwhile, Lusher, the No. 13 seed, enters today’s contest with a 16-20 overall mark. The squad finished second in District 9-III play behind Division III power Ursuline Academy.
Theriot said she heard Lusher is big on their front row but has some weaknesses on defense.
“I’ve just heard we need to serve tough,” she said.
Ultimately, Theriot said Tuesday’s contest depends on how her team plays.
Morgan City and Lusher have 10 common opponents with similar results this season. The differences are while Morgan City split with Central Lafourche in their two matchups and lost to Dunham twice and St. Martinville once, Lusher beat all three opponents in their lone matchups with the squads.
